  • “Angel with the Cross on Ponte Sant'Angelo Rome - Photo by Dino Carbetta”<br />
<br />
Captured just after sundown, this image reveals a tranquil scene as the sky deepens into a majestic blue, highlighting the golden light on the angelic figures that line the bridge. The Ponte Sant'Angelo (Bridge of Angels) spans the Tiber River, only a short walk from St. Peter’s Basilica. For centuries, it has symbolized the transition from the busy streets of Rome to the sacred space of Vatican City, offering a contemplative pause for pilgrims crossing into the spiritual heart of the city. The bridge’s ten angel sculptures were designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, though few were carved by his own hand. His vision, however, lives on in these figures, which stand as silent sentinels, each holding symbols of Christ’s Passion. The bridge is anchored by statues of Saints Peter and Paul, marking the gateway to the spiritual realm. With their imposing presence, they frame the passageway, guiding travelers to reflect on their journey of faith. One of the most striking figures is the "Angel with the Cross." Its serene expression and reverent pose underscore the deep symbolism of the cross it holds. Beneath the statue, a Latin inscription from Isaiah 9:6 reads, "Cuius principatus super humerum eius" — "Dominion rests on his shoulders." This prophetic message of Christ’s kingship resonates deeply with the scene, reminding all who pass of the weight of Christ's authority and sacrifice. In Dino Carbetta's photograph, the interplay of light and shadow creates a sense of the eternal. The angel seems illuminated from within, standing out against the fading Roman sky. Through his lens, Carbetta captures more than just a moment—he preserves the spiritual legacy of the bridge, inviting viewers to reflect on the enduring message of faith, sacrifice, and redemption that permeates this historic path. The image speaks to the timeless intersection of art, faith, and history in one of Rome's most iconic locations.

  • “A Million Faces of Jesus by Dino Carbetta – Impasto”…<br />
<br />
Gospel: Feb 23, 2025 - Luke 6:27-38<br />
The divine gaze of Christ reflects the boundless mercy and love spoken in today’s Gospel. Just as Jesus calls us to love without limits, to forgive without hesitation, and to give without expectation, this painting unveils the face of our Savior in endless forms—reminding us that He dwells in every soul, even in those we struggle to love. Each stroke, each texture, speaks of His unfathomable grace, inviting us to see Him in the faces of both friend and foe, as He sees us—with infinite compassion. Jesus said to his disciples: “To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic. Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same. If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, and get back the same amount. But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back; then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. “Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give, and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.”

  • “Saint Dominic – Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
Saint Dominic, OP (1170-1221), was a devout Catholic priest from Castile, Spain, and the visionary founder of the Dominican Order. His feast day is celebrated on August 8th. Dominic is the patron saint of astronomers and natural scientists, inspiring countless individuals. In 1215, recognizing the spiritual needs of rapidly growing cities, he sought to establish a new religious community that would address these needs through dedication, education, and flexibility. With six followers, Dominic settled in a house provided by Peter Seila, a wealthy resident of Toulouse. His mission was to preach the Gospel, combat heresies, and bring people closer to God. He established a center of learning in Toulouse, which evolved into the University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum) in Rome. The Dominicans, or Order of Preachers (OP), were known for their intellectual pursuits and emphasis on poverty, identifying with the marginalized. Dominic was renowned for humility, compassion, and unwavering faith, traveling extensively throughout Europe to spread the Gospel. He engaged heretics with love and understanding rather than conflict. Saint Dominic's life and teachings left a lasting impact on the Catholic Church and the world. The Dominican Order continues to thrive, spreading love, knowledge, and service. Their members have contributed significantly to human understanding and the spreading of God's word. Saint Dominic's example remains an inspiration for Catholics and people of faith, emphasizing the power of education, humility, and love to transform lives and society. The Dominican Order fulfills his vision of preaching the Gospel and serving God's people. Dominic's mother dreamt of giving birth to a dog with a torch in its mouth that would "burn the world." The dog may symbolize a Dominican friar, and it's common to see a dog at the feet of the saint.

  • “The Call of Saint Matthew - Embracing Divine Mercy – Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...<br />
<br />
Saint Matthew, originally Levi, epitomizes the transformative power of God's grace in the Catholic tradition. Once a despised tax collector by the Roman occupiers, Matthew's life changed when Jesus called him to follow. His immediate response—"And he got up and followed Him" (Matthew 9:9)—marked a complete turn from corruption to discipleship, showing that no one is beyond God's reach. Matthew hosted a banquet for Jesus, inviting fellow tax collectors and sinners, which scandalized the Pharisees. Jesus' response—"I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners" (Matthew 9:13)—highlights His mission of healing and reconciliation. In Catholic theology, this underscores the boundless nature of divine mercy. Traditionally, Saint Matthew is credited with writing the Gospel that bears his name, guided by an angel who illuminated the divine truths he recorded. His Gospel is valued for linking Old Testament prophecies with the portrayal of Jesus as the Messiah. After Jesus' resurrection, Matthew preached in Judea and later in distant lands, including Ethiopia. There, he converted and consecrated Ephigenia, the daughter of King Egippus, to God. When the new king sought to marry her, Matthew defended her vow of chastity, leading to his martyrdom at the altar. His martyrdom is seen as the ultimate witness to his faith. Saint Matthew is honored as a saint in the Catholic Church, with his feast day on September 21. As one of the four evangelists, he is often depicted with the symbol of a winged man, representing the human nature of Christ. His life and works are a testament to the transformative power of God's love, reminding the faithful that God can bring about profound conversion even in the most unlikely of individuals. His tomb in Salerno Cathedral, Italy, remains a place of pilgrimage and veneration, where the faithful reflect on his enduring legacy.

  • “Saint Basil the Great – Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...<br />
<br />
Saint Basil the Great, a theologian and bishop of Caesarea in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey) who lived from 329 to 379, profoundly shaped Christian history. A staunch advocate of the Nicene Creed, he opposed the heresies of Arianism and the teachings of Apollinaris of Laodicea’s followers. Basil’s legacy extends beyond theology; he was a tireless defender of the poor, establishing one of the earliest hospitals and creating monastic guidelines focused on community, liturgical prayer, and manual labor. Basil is celebrated as one of the fathers of communal monasticism in Eastern Christianity, alongside Pachomius, and is recognized as a Doctor of the Church in Roman Catholicism. His theological influence is matched by his role among the Cappadocian Fathers, along with his brother Gregory of Nyssa and friend Gregory of Nazianzus. Known as the "revealer of heavenly mysteries," he shaped Eastern monasticism as profoundly as Saint Benedict did in the West. As archbishop of Caesarea, Basil faced immense challenges, including pressure from Emperor Valens, a supporter of Arianism, to compromise his faith. He stood firm, preaching daily to large crowds, building institutions for the needy, and addressing issues like poverty and exploitation. Though often misunderstood during his lifetime, his steadfast defense of orthodoxy and advocacy for the vulnerable ultimately earned him widespread recognition. The Council of Chalcedon later praised him as "the great Basil, minister of grace who has expounded the truth to the whole earth." The profound life of Saint Basil the Great is beautifully honored in this painting, capturing his enduring influence as a theologian, reformer, and spiritual guide. His life continues to inspire modern Christians in their quest for reform, compassion, and faithfulness amidst adversity.

  • Madonna of Victory and the Rosary - Painting by Dino Carbetta<br />
<br />
 Honors the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary celebrated on October 7. Originally designated as "Our Lady of Victory" by Pope Pius V, this feast commemorates the decisive Battle of Lepanto in 1571 amidst the looming specter of the imminent danger posed by the formidable Ottoman fleet, Pope Pius V implored Europe to unite in prayer, leading a solemn rosary procession in Rome. The painting captures this pivotal moment, depicting the devout supplication of the faithful and the divine intervention that ensued. The Battle of Lepanto marked a turning point in history as the Holy League miraculously vanquished the Ottoman armada, liberating thousands of captive Christians. Pius V attributed this triumph to the intercession of the Mother of God, bestowing upon the world the enduring legacy of the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. The significance of Mary's intercession resurfaced during the Battle of Vienna in 1683, where Blessed Marco d’Aviano rallied the besieged Christian forces, urging them to seek solace and strength through the rosary. Under the divine protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Polish relief army secured a resounding victory, thwarting the Ottoman threat to Christendom once again. This artwork serves as a poignant reminder of Mary's unwavering guidance and the transformative power of prayer throughout history. The Queen of Heaven continues to lead the faithful in their spiritual battles, offering solace and hope to all who seek her intercession. • “Ascension of the Lord - Painting by Dino Carbetta”…<br />
<br />
Luke 24:46-53 narrates "The Ascension of the Lord." Jesus reveals his resurrection to his disciples after three days of suffering and stresses the significance of spreading the message of repentance and forgiveness of sins in his name to all nations, starting from Jerusalem. He reminds his followers that they are witnesses to these events and assures them that he will send his Father's promise upon them. However, he instructs them to stay in the city until they receive power from above. After blessing them, Jesus ascends to heaven. The disciples enthusiastically return to Jerusalem, continuously praising God in the temple. The Ascension signifies that although Jesus may not be present in a specific location, he is always among us. We have an Advocate who defends and guides us through life and a community that lives out their faith with us in our daily lives. Together, we reveal the lordship of God's love to the world through the Risen Jesus Christ, who ascended to heaven and advocates for us. "And when I am lifted from the earth, I will draw all people to myself." The lifting up of Jesus on the cross signifies and announces his ascent into heaven, which begins it. Jesus Christ, the only priest of the new and everlasting Covenant, "entered not into a sanctuary made by human hands... but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf." He is the center and principal actor of the liturgy that honors the Father in heaven. Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father, signifying the inauguration of his kingdom and the fulfillment of the prophet Daniel's vision regarding the Son of man. "To him was given dominion and glory and kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed." The apostles became witnesses to the "kingdom will have no end."

  • “Illuminated crucifix in Cathedral of Saints Philip and James – Sorrento”… <br />
<br />
The main church in Sorrento is the Duomo, also known as the Cathedral of San Filippo and San Giacomo, which is concealed right in the heart of the town. Sorrento is not known as a pilgrimage site, but a beautiful seaside resort village. The Duomo dates as far back as the 11th century but was completely rebuilt in the 15th century in Romanesque style. The façade is very plain for a Cathedral of such interior grandeur, which has three naves separated by pillars and a very ornate ceiling. Next to the cathedral is a bell tower resting on an arch with four columns, which dates back to medieval times. Inconspicuously, I entered the cathedral and saw only a dozen elderly women sitting in the front pews reciting aloud a novena. Not wanting to disturb them, I ventured around quietly and was taken aback by the reverent beauty and peaceful aura of the magnificent Duomo. Hanging above the Altar was a lifelike Crucifix. It was not as large as it appears in the photos; however, the closer I ventured…the more mesmerized I became. Slowly and quietly moving about, from different angles I was able to capture dramatic images of window light mystically illuminating Christ. This image with the sunlight shining through the window is one of the most meaningful and favorite images from my Italian journey. I believe that if you gaze for a minute or two, you will also be transported on a remarkable journey.

  • “Saint Catherine of Siena Bearing the Sacred Stigmata - Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...<br />
<br />
Captures the essence of a remarkable life devoted to Christ. Born on March 25, 1347, Catherine Benincasa embraced a profound commitment: surrendering to her Lord. From her early years as the 23rd child of Jacopo and Lapa Benincasa, Catherine displayed remarkable intelligence, cheerfulness, and intense religious devotion. Rejecting societal pressures, Catherine boldly cut her hair in protest against superficial expectations to attract a husband, earning her room for solitary prayer and reflection. At 18, she entered the Dominican Third Order, dedicating three years to seclusion, prayer, and austerity. Yet, her contemplative life attracted followers from diverse backgrounds, drawn to her unwavering faith and spiritual insight. Despite opposition and slander, Catherine fearlessly engaged with the world, advocating for spiritual growth and addressing public affairs through her letters. Her influence grew, marked by her holiness, Dominican affiliation, and profound impact on Pope Gregory XI. In tumultuous times marked by the Great Schism, Catherine remained steadfast, advocating for unity within the Church and tirelessly promoting peace. Her final years were spent in Rome, fervently praying for Pope Urban VI and the Church's unity. Declared co-patron of Italy in 1461, Catherine's spiritual legacy endures alongside Francis of Assisi. Named a Doctor of the Church in 1970, her teachings, encapsulated in "The Dialogue," transcend time, inviting us to pursue holiness as a lifelong endeavor. Catherine's unwavering pursuit of holiness resonates despite the stark differences between her era and ours. Her mystical experiences and ascetic practices may seem distant, yet her recognition of holiness as a lifelong journey remains relevant in our rapidly changing world. Catherine's devotion to Christ compels us to seek the divine presence in our lives as we journey through Christianity.

  • “Saint Thomas Aquinas - The Great Philosopher – Painting by Dino Carbetta” ... <br />
<br />
Born in 1225 in the county of Aquino, situated in the Kingdom of Sicily, Aquinas emerged as a prominent figure in philosophy and theology. He was an Italian Dominican friar, priest, philosopher, theologian, and jurist whose legacy of intellect continues to endure. Aquinas's significant contributions center around natural theology and the establishment of Thomism, a school of thought aiming to harmonize theology and philosophy. He believed that God was the wellspring of both natural reason and faith, striving to meld Aristotelian philosophy with Christian principles. His profound impact is evident in works like the unfinished Summa Theologica and the Summa contra Gentiles, as well as commentaries on Christian Scripture and Aristotle, all shaping medieval philosophy. He is accredited as "the most influential thinker of the medieval period" and "the greatest of the medieval philosopher-theologians." Aquinas, a devout Catholic, enriched the liturgy of the Catholic Church with enduring Eucharistic hymns. Thomas Aquinas began his intellectual journey when he joined the Benedictine monastery at Monte Cassino when he was only five. He was later given titles such as Doctor Angelicus ("Angelic Doctor") and Doctor Communis. Further studies in Naples in 1239 deepened his connection to Aristotle's philosophy. The painting divinely captures the essence of Saint Thomas Aquinas. This inspirational figure's emphasis on the unity of faith and reason, revelation, and human knowledge resonates with those seeking knowledge and spiritual truth. Aquinas's enduring insights and this youthful artistic representation converge to present a profound reflection on the legacy of this great philosopher, whose wisdom remains pertinent and inspiring in our contemporary world.

  • “Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary - Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
The rich tapestry of faith is often woven with threads of history and tradition. The celebration of the Most Holy Name of Mary, its origins tracing back to the vibrant lands of Spain in the year 1513, serves as a profound reminder of the enduring power of devotion. A timeless journey that started in a particular time and place has blossomed into a cherished moment for the entire Church. Pope Innocent XI, recognizing the beauty and significance of this venerable tradition, embraced it wholeheartedly, extending its embrace to the global congregation. The unity of faith finds its expression in shared rituals, and the celebration of the Most Holy Name of Mary beautifully complements the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus, observed every September 12. In the intricate mosaic of Catholic devotion, these celebrations are like twin stars, one radiating the celestial grace of Mary, the other illuminating the majestic persona of Jesus. Each festivity encapsulates a distinct essence, yet they resonate harmoniously, representing the two pillars of divinity. The Holy Name of Mary, a testament to her unwavering virtue and maternal compassion, stands as a symbol of solace and intercession. Just as the name of a beloved carries the power to evoke emotions, Mary's name invokes hope and supplication, a bridge between the human heart and the divine realm. I am embracing the profound significance of these celebrations embarking on this artistic and literary venture. The legacy of the Most Holy Name of Mary and the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus infuses these artistic endeavors with a sense of purpose and inspiration. Words and art have the potential to be vessels of transcendence, allowing those who encounter them to glimpse the eternal truths that lie beyond the visible realm. Mary was inspired by my good Catholic friend, Lori.

  • “Our Lady of Sorrows - Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
Offers a profound reflection on the Blessed Mother's deep grief, particularly during Christ's passion and death. This evocative work draws viewers into the depths of her sorrow, highlighting the seven sorrows she endured, as foretold by Simeon. His words in Luke 2:34-35 resonate through the ages: "Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign that will be contradicted—and you yourself a sword will pierce—so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed." These sorrows are not mere events but spiritual wounds carved deeply into Mary's heart, each marked by intense anguish. The seven sorrows, central to this piece, include the flight into Egypt, the loss of Jesus in the Temple, Mary's encounter with her Son on the road to Calvary, witnessing His crucifixion, holding His lifeless body after His descent from the cross, and His burial. Each moment is captured in this portrayal of Mary, whose pierced heart symbolizes both Simeon’s prophecy and her immense spiritual suffering. Yet amidst this profound sorrow, there is remarkable strength—an unwavering faith that never faltered. This same faith led Mary to proclaim at the Annunciation, "Let it be done unto me according to thy word." Her steadfast trust in God's plan echoes through each sorrow, offering a powerful testament to faith amid deep grief. Inspired by the rich tradition of Marian iconography, the painting depicts Mary as a central figure in Christ's Passion. It captures both the personal sorrow of a mother and the broader spiritual sorrow of one who shares in her Son's redemptive mission. This work invites reflection on Mary's suffering, boundless faith, and courage, offering solace and inspiration to those who suffer. Like Mary, this painting beckons us to understand the redemptive power of suffering embraced with faith—a timeless message for all who encounter it.

  • “Divine Earthly Guardian - Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...<br />
<br />
Angels, as pure spirits, exist beyond the material world, endowed with intellect and will that surpass human understanding. Though they belong to a higher nature, "Angels are consistently dispatched by God." to fulfill divine missions on Earth. The term "angel" means "messenger," throughout Scripture, they are revealed as distinct beings, faithfully conducting God's will. The Old Testament blurs the lines between angels and God's presence, while the New Testament clearly distinguishes them as unique creations of God, assigned to serve His divine purposes. Angels were not created with the direct vision of God; instead, they were given a choice. Those who obeyed became holy angels, while those who chose to defy "God existed in a state of isolation." from His divine grace. Their spiritual intelligence allows them to understand and irrevocably commit to their chosen paths fully. "Guardian angels play an indispensable role.“ in our spiritual lives, guiding and protecting us. Psalm 91:11 reminds us, " For he hath given his angels charge over thee; to keep thee in all thy ways. These celestial beings continually intercede for us, offering divine protection and inspiration. We are encouraged to venerate our guardian angels, seeking their guidance and friendship as we navigate life’s journey. This painting, "Divine Earthly Guardian," creatively captures the deep and vivid connection between the Angelical and the earth. The artwork captures the essence of an angelic being—both a divine messenger and a protective presence in our lives. This guardian, while of a superior nature, is diligent in its duties and unwavering in its protection and is intricately connected to our world, fulfilling God’s command to watch over His creation. Through this painting, the eternal truth of our spiritual guardians is beautifully illuminated, inspiring reverence and a deeper awareness of the unseen forces that guide and protect us.

  • "Saint John the Baptist - Voice in the Wilderness – Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...<br />
<br />
This compelling painting of: “Saint John the Baptist,” in the Jordan River captures the essence of a man wholly dedicated to witnessing Jesus Christ. John the Baptist, a pivotal figure in Christian tradition, was not only a prophet and preacher but also a living testament to the divine. His very presence was a constant direction toward the Messiah. But as we reflect on John’s life, we must ask ourselves: Do we carry the same spirit of witness and devotion in our lives? When we envision John the Baptist, we might see him as an ascetic figure, clothed in animal skins, crying out in the wilderness, calling people to repentance. Beyond these vivid images lies a deeper question: Does our life reflect John’s fervor and commitment? Are we, like him, guiding others toward Christ through our words and actions? The Gospels offer us varied portraits of John. Matthew portrays him as a preacher of repentance, urging a radical change of heart. Luke highlights John as a prophet filled with the Holy Spirit, who calls people to practical acts of justice and compassion. In John’s Gospel, the Baptist is portrayed as a witness who consistently points to Jesus, the true Light. His depiction in the Jordan invites us to reflect on these facets of his life and ministry. Are we, too, living lives of genuine repentance? Do our actions bear the fruits of true conversion? Just as John's baptism symbolized inner change, our faith must be alive, and visible in how we live and interact with others. As you contemplate this painting, let it serve as a mirror to your soul, urging you to examine your own life. Like John, are you a voice in the wilderness, a beacon guiding others to the hope and salvation found in Christ alone? In a world that often seems dark, this painting reminds us of our call to be light and witnesses who, like John, draw others to the grace and love of God.

  • "Three Young Witnesses - The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima – Painting by Dino Carbetta"…<br />
<br />
Francisco and Jacinta, both under the age of 12, are the youngest non-martyred saints to have been canonized in the history of the Church. They tended the families' sheep with their cousin Lucia Santo in the fields of Fatima, Portugal, where they witnessed the apparition of Mary, also known as Our Lady of Fatima. The first appearance happened in 1917, during which Our Lady encouraged the children to recite the Rosary and make sacrifices for the conversion of sinners. The siblings prayed and shared their food with beggars, sacrificing their hunger and thirst for their cause. In 1918, The children contracted the Spanish flu, and Our Lady visited them again, promising to take them to heaven soon. Francisco passed away in 1919, still longing for his first Communion. Jacinta's health deteriorated, and she underwent surgery and was hospitalized, but she eventually passed away in 1920. Francisco and Jacinta were later canonized in 2017, by Pope Francis, highlighting the profound lesson that even the youngest can achieve sainthood. From May 13 to October 13, 1917, the children received several appearances of Our Lady at Cova da Iria, amidst Europe's wartime strife and Portugal's internal upheaval. Mary's message emphasized the importance of prayer, penance, and devotion, including a plea for the conversion of Russia, which resonated deeply with a world yearning for peace amidst chaos. On October 13, 1917, up to 90,000 people gathered at the Fatima site to witness the culminating event of Mary's message. In this painting, the serene faces of Francisco, Jacinta, and Lucia stand as a testament to their extraordinary faith. The young visionaries and their cousin Lucia, who became a nun, are buried in the Fatima Basilica. Pope Francis canonized them on the 100th anniversary of the first apparition. Their message focused on prayer, devotion to Mary's Immaculate Heart, and the Rosary.

We are tasked with nurturing our spiritual growth, deepening our relationship with God, and being a light in the world. In essence, we are called to be earthly guardians of the divine truth. Angelic duty, as implied in the title, is a profound and mysterious aspect of Christian theology. Angels are often seen as messengers of God, protectors, and guides. They exist in a realm that bridges the divine and the earthly, and they play a crucial role in God's plan for humanity. Just as they are eternally vigilant in their service to God, we too are called to be vigilant in our earthly lives, guarding our faith and spreading the message of love and hope. Passing the torch of angelic duty suggests a continuity of this divine service. As Christians, we are called to carry forward the work of angels on Earth. We must pass on the knowledge and experience of faith to the next generation, ensuring that the flame of devotion continues to burn brightly. This duty extends not only to our faith but also to our role in guiding others on their spiritual journey. We can draw inspiration from the unwavering commitment of angels to serving God's divine purpose. Just as they perform their duties with dedication and love, we should approach our responsibilities as Christian individuals with the same devotion. We can find strength in knowing that we are not alone in this journey; angels are with us, guiding and protecting us along the way. This painting depicts a profound moment in the realm of spiritual guardianship. The concept of a senior angel passing the torch of duty to a younger brother is both poignant and filled with inspiration. In the realm of artistic license, I might just be the angel in the foreground, conveying the divine inspiration that fuels my creative endeavors.

  • “Mary Magdalene - Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...<br />
<br />
Mary Magdalene washing the feet of Jesus on Holy Monday is a poignant moment in the Gospels, rich with symbolism and meaning. To understand the event's essence, differentiate between the various Bible accounts. In John's Gospel (12:1-11), the scene unfolds at the home of Lazarus in Bethany, where Mary, identified as Lazarus' contemplative sister, anoints Jesus' feet with costly perfume. This act symbolizes an expression of love and a prefiguration of Jesus' burial. In contrast, Mt (26:6-13) and Mk (14:3-9) recount a similar event at the house of Simon the Leper, where an unnamed woman anoints Jesus' head with oil, eliciting criticism from the disciples. Lk (7:36-50) presents a dinner at the home of Simon the Pharisee, featuring a repentant "sinner" woman who anoints Jesus' feet and receives forgiveness. Distinguishing these accounts is crucial, as they depict separate events involving distinct women. Over time, however, these narratives became intertwined, leading to misunderstandings and misrepresentations. Mary Magdalene's story resonates with many on their journeys of redemption and forgiveness. Contrary to popular misconceptions, there's no biblical evidence to support Mary being a prostitute. She experienced a profound conversion, becoming a devoted follower of Jesus. Her steadfast presence at the crucifixion and her pivotal role as the first witness to the Resurrection exemplify her unwavering faith and love for Jesus. The encounter at the empty tomb reflects her initial confusion and eventual recognition of Jesus, culminating in her commission to proclaim the Resurrection to the disciples. Through Mary Magdalene's eyes, we glimpse the awe and joy of encountering the risen Lord, inviting us to experience Easter's profound significance in our own lives. As we await that glorious day, let us echo her heartfelt response, eagerly seeking and proclaiming, "I have seen the Lord!"

  • “Roses of Saint Rita of Cascia – A Painting by Dino Carbetta” ... <br />
<br />
Saint Rita of Cascia, bedridden in the convent, was visited by a cousin from Roccaporena near the end of her life. Asking if she desired anything from home, Rita humbly requested a rose from the family garden. It was January, and the request seemed impossible. Yet, when her cousin returned home, a single rose bloomed amidst the winter frost—a miraculous sign of God’s grace. She brought it back to Rita, who received it with gratitude and devotion. Roses represent Saint Rita's intercession, depicted in her imagery and blessed by priests on her feast day as a sign of her enduring presence. Born in 1381, Saint Rita’s life was marked by suffering and unwavering faith. From a young age, she longed to dedicate herself to God in a convent, but her parents arranged her marriage to a harsh and violent man. For eighteen years, she endured his cruelty with patience and love, raising two sons in the light of faith. After the tragic deaths of her husband and children, she sought refuge in the Augustinian convent of Cascia. Initially denied entry due to her widowhood, her perseverance and holiness ultimately secured her place among the sisters. Rita's deep devotion to Christ through prayer made her a beacon of hope. She selflessly cared for the sick, guided the troubled, and embraced penance. In deep contemplation of Christ’s Passion, she received a mystical wound on her forehead, a divine mark of her union with His suffering. This painting captures the profound beauty of Saint Rita’s faith and the miraculous roses that have become a symbol of her enduring grace. Today, the Basilica of Saint Rita stands as a sanctuary of faith. Thousands of pilgrims journey to Cascia, seeking her intercession and finding peace in her sacred presence. Through this artwork, viewers are invited into the holy atmosphere of Cascia, where faith, resilience, and divine grace bloom like the miraculous rose of Saint Rita.

  • “Saint Joan of Arc - Painting by Dino Carbetta”…<br />
<br />
Today, we honor the feast of St. Joan of Arc, a towering figure in history and the patron saint of France. Joan, born to a modest family in Champagne, France, during the early 15th century, began hearing the voices of St. Michael, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret at a tender age. These celestial messages guided her to a divine mission: to support the King of France in reclaiming his realm from English and Burgundian forces. In 1428, Joan's vision propelled her to action. Despite the incredulity and resistance she faced, her determination and profound faith convinced the members of the court and the Church to provide her with a small army. With unwavering conviction, Joan led her forces into battle, her banner emblazoned with the names "Jesus" and "Mary" and a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Her faith and strategic acumen culminated in the lifting of the siege of Orléans in 1429, a pivotal victory that turned the tide of the Hundred Years' War. Joan's leadership and bravery did not just win battles; they inspired a nation. Her army's triumphs ultimately enabled the coronation of Charles VII as the King of France. Burgundian forces captured Joan in May 1430 and then sold to the English. Despite her king's and army's pleas, she was abandoned, imprisoned, and subjected to a rigged trial overseen by the Bishop of Beauvais, who harbored ambitions of his own. Joan was condemned to death on charges of heresy, witchcraft, and adultery, and on May 30, 1431, at just 19 years old, she was martyred by fire in Rouen, France. The legacy of St. Joan of Arc is profoundly captured in this unique painting and inspired by the equestrian statue of Jeanne d'Arc at the Place des Pyramides in Paris. The painting is a tribute to her valor, faith, and indomitable spirit. It invites the viewer to reflect on the extraordinary life of a young woman who, guided by divine voices, changed history and became a timeless symbol of strength and faith.

  • “Saint Gregory of Nazianzus - The Trinitarian Theologian – Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...<br />
<br />
Gregory of Nazianzus, a 4th-century archbishop of Constantinople, was a renowned theologian noted for his eloquence and profound influence on Trinitarian theology. Revered as the "Trinitarian Theologian," Gregory shaped theological thought among Latin-speaking Christians, influencing modern theology, particularly regarding the Trinity. Along with Basil the Great and Gregory of Nyssa, he is celebrated as a Cappadocian Father and honored as a Doctor of the Church. Gregory’s journey was defined by deep faith and reluctant duties. “He was Baptized." at 30 and later joined his friend Basil in a monastery. He enjoyed the solitude until his father, a bishop, sought his help. Despite reluctance, Gregory became a priest and prevented a schism caused by his father's compromises with Arianism., 41, became the suffragan bishop of Caesarea, leading to a clash with Emperor Valens, an Arian supporter. This strained his friendship with Basil. After Valens' death, Gregory was tasked with restoring faith in Arian-dominated Constantinople. Amid corruption and violence, Gregory began his renowned Trinity sermons, turning his friend's home into the city’s sole orthodox church. Gregory’s efforts to restore orthodoxy were fraught with suffering, slander, and personal attacks. Despite these challenges, he restored faith in Constantinople and spent his later years in solitude, writing profound religious poetry. Simply known as "the Theologian," his liturgical feast is celebrated with St. Basil the Great on January 2. This painting captures the essence of this great theologian's life and legacy. Gregory's unwavering faith and resilience amid adversity remind us that holiness often follows the path of the cross, echoing Christ's promise that true peace is found not in the absence of trials but in the steadfast embrace of faith. His life, a testament to enduring theological truth, continues to inspire.

  • “The Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute Venice emanates in the distance on the Grand Canal - Painting by Dino Carbetta”…<br />
<br />
Our pilgrimage culminated in Venice, a cherished and iconic destination. Departing from Padua, we journeyed to the Venetian Lagoon, where a private boat awaited to transport us to the Basilica di San Marco. This sacred haven became the setting for a profound Mass, a spiritual highlight of our pilgrimage. Navigating through the bustling Doge’s Palace, we then embraced the freedom to absorb the essence of the Venetian Islands until our farewell dinner and the impending return flight. True to our adventurous spirit, fellow pilgrim Patrick and I embarked on a quest to encapsulate the entire beauty of Venice in just half a day on foot. Covering precisely 8.3 miles fueled by adrenaline, we could have easily doubled the distance. Our exploration included the Basilica, canals, bridges, gondolas, and every facet of Venetian culture. Foremost on our itinerary was the Basilica dei Frari, followed by a visit to Chiesa di San Geremia to pay homage to St. Lucy. Navigating Venice's maze proved challenging, as GPS sporadically guided us through the intricate waterways. Cameras clicked incessantly, capturing the fleeting moments of this enchanting city as we raced against time to reach the waterside restaurant by 7:00 pm. In the midst of this Bellissimo Spring day, a pause for an Aperitivo became a cherished moment, adding another layer to our journey. We gracefully wandered the narrow walkways and canals, harmonizing with the rhythm of Venice. Our thoughts never dwelled on distance during this surreptitious mission; instead, we artfully absorbed all that was superior. As dusk fell, we arrived at Ristorante Pizzería Da Alvise, a waterside eatery that epitomized authenticity and excellence. The finest shrimp awaited, and amidst grateful speeches in the intimate venue, the Bellissimo Spring day in Venice concluded on a note of profound beauty."

  • “Unique View through Medieval Arches of the Cathedral of Sorrento”…<br />
<br />
I discovered areas where the old Duomo met the new, and it seemed that some images were quite accidental. I noticed that peering through a small and out of the way opening, I could see back to a lighted statue of a patron Bishop. The juxtaposition of the descending and uniquely colored archways gave a great appearance of depth and perspective.

  • "Mystical Padre Pio – Painting by Dino Carbetta"...<br />
<br />
Padre Pio emerged from humble beginnings, born into a farming family in the heart of southern Italy. His father journeyed to New York to provide for them. At 15, Francesco joined the Capuchin order, taking the name Pio. In 1910, he was ordained a priest, but his ministry was interrupted by World War I, during which he was drafted. Due to tuberculosis, he was honorably discharged, and in 1917, he found his spiritual home at the friary in San Giovanni Rotondo. In that place, he experienced receiving the sacred stigmata, which mirrored the wounds of Christ's Passion. This significant moment was immortalized in this painting of Padre Pio. The saint's reputation spread quickly, drawing multitudes to his confessional, where he spent up to 10 hours a day in spiritual counsel and absolution. Many testified to miraculous healings and spiritual transformations through his intercession, as Padre Pio seemed to possess an extraordinary ability to read souls. His life was one of deep prayer, intense devotion, and severe austerity. His letters reveal the profound spiritual and physical suffering he endured, all in communion with God and in deep love for the Blessed Eucharist and the Virgin Mary. During his canonization in 2002, Pope Saint John Paul II reflected, "The Gospel image of the 'yoke' evokes the many trials that the humble Capuchin endured. Today, we contemplate in him how sweet is the 'yoke' of Christ and how light the burdens become when carried with faithful love. Padre Pio’s life teaches us that when accepted with love, suffering transforms into a privileged path to holiness, leading to a greater good known only to the Lord." This spiritual depth, enduring sanctity, and the profound mystery of his stigmata are beautifully captured in this painting of the mystical Padre Pio, a tribute to the saint's life and legacy.

  • “The Transfiguration of Jesus – Painting by Dino Carbetta” … <br />
<br />
According to the Synoptic Gospels, Jesus, accompanied by Peter, James, and John, ascended a high mountain to pray. During this divine encounter, Jesus underwent a profound transformation, His countenance radiating with celestial brilliance, and His garments gleaming with a purity beyond earthly comprehension. The presence of Moses and Elijah conversing with Jesus symbolized the continuity between the Law, the prophets, and the fulfillment of both in Christ. Overwhelmed by the magnitude of this encounter, Peter proposed the construction of tents for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah, not fully comprehending the divine significance. In a profound manifestation of divine affirmation, a cloud enveloped them, and the voice of God declared Jesus as His beloved Son, commanding obedience to His teachings. This momentous event affirmed Jesus' divinity and mission, reinforcing His authority as the promised Messiah. As abruptly as it began, the vision concluded, leaving the apostles with Jesus alone, and they descended from the mountain, grappling with the mystery of Jesus' impending resurrection. The Transfiguration serves as a beacon of divine revelation, illuminating the profound theological truths central to the Christian faith. It signifies the culmination of the Old Testament prophecies and foreshadows the glory of Christ's resurrection. In Catholic tradition, the Feast of the Transfiguration invites believers to reflect on the majesty of Christ and the promise of transformation in His likeness. It underscores the theological significance of Christ's divinity and His fulfilment of Scripture, offering solace and encouragement to believers amidst life's trials. On July 22, 1456, the Crusaders defeated the Turks at Belgrade. News of the victory reached Rome on August 6, and Pope Callistus III placed the feast on the Roman calendar the following year.

Artistic expression unfolds with each brush stroke telling a story deeply rooted in sacred scriptures. PS 42:2 breathes life into the canvas, portraying a deer longing for streams of water—a symbol of the soul's deep yearning for God. Radiant beams echo the joyous melodies of a once-muted tongue, celebrating spiritual liberation. Jn 8:12 illuminates the canvas with Jesus as the light of the world. The deer, bathed in celestial glow, symbolizes the transformative power of Christ's light dispelling darkness. Mt 5:14-16 turns the deer into a mountain beacon, urging viewers to let their light shine, glorifying the heavenly Father through acts of grace. • “Hosanna in the Highest – The Triumphal Entry”- A Painting by Dino Carbetta<br />
<br />
On this sacred day, we remember not only the palm branches, the cloaks laid down, and the cries of “Hosanna!”—but the eternal King who entered the Holy City in divine humility. Riding not upon a chariot or steed, but upon a lowly donkey, Christ revealed the paradox of His kingship: a Prince of Peace whose crown would be of thorns, whose throne would be a cross. This painting, newly inspired and completed in contemplation of Holy Week, captures that breathtaking moment when heaven and earth seemed to hold their breath. Ancient columns stand as silent witnesses to the fulfillment of prophecy. A great archway—glowing as if touched by the light of eternity—beckons beyond the temporal, foreshadowing the passage from death into Resurrection. Above the adoring crowd, the Holy Spirit descends in the form of a white dove, alighting upon the Son of God with grace and power. The people cheer with joy, not yet knowing the sorrow to come—but their hearts, like the stones themselves, cry out in reverence. This is not merely the entry into Jerusalem, but the entry of salvation into the soul of mankind. Each face in the crowd is a soul that longs for healing, for truth, for the Messiah. And He comes, not to conquer by the sword, but to conquer sin and death by love. In this vision, the temporal and the eternal meet under the radiant sky of promise. The moment is both triumph and foreshadowing. The Lamb enters as King. As we journey into Holy Week, may this vision remind us that our Savior did not come to be served, but to serve—and to lay down His life for many. Let us prepare Him room, not only in the streets of memory, but in the sanctuary of our hearts. Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord. Hosanna in the Highest.

  • Quiet Twilight Descends On Sorrento Marina Grande - Painting by Dino Carbetta<br />
<br />
In late spring’s sacred hush, I arrived once more in Sorrento, where twilight bowed before the ascent of a golden moon, casting Heaven’s halo across the sea. Beyond the clamor of piazzas and the perfume of citrus, Marina Grande emerged again like a hymn—unchanged, enfolded in the divine quiet of tradition. This harbor is no mere retreat, but a revelation: a living psalm sung by sea, stone, and soul. In this reimagined view, the heart of the bay glows beneath celestial light, where the fishing boats rock gently, as if whispered to sleep by angels. Here, time obeys no clock but flows like liturgy—measured by tides, blessings, and the breath of the sacred. Families in Marina Grande live by a litany older than words: by dawn’s promise, by the labor of the sea, by the echo of bells from Sant’Anna’s steadfast tower. Their hands, lined with grace and salt, move in holy rhythm—casting nets, mending lines, preparing bread—each gesture a testament to quiet faith. The Church of Sant’Anna, silhouetted against the moonrise, keeps vigil over the waters, its silence weightier than sound, its presence anchoring generations in unseen grace. Along the stone shore, in the reverent hush of evening, I watched fishermen tend their nets, their movements like Scripture in motion: humble, enduring, prayerful. The lights of Ristorante Zi' Ntonio a Mare shimmered on the surface like golden incense, as voices rose in joy and memory mingled with the scent of lemon and sea. That night, beneath a moon both ancient and new, I broke bread beside the water—calamari, warm loaves, and St. Peter’s fish, each bite a remembrance of miracle. Years later, I returned, not as a stranger, but as a guide, leading souls back to the sacred shore where moonlight meets mercy. Marina Grande endures—a sanctuary not only of peace, but of eternity, where the divine continues to dwell, wrapped in golden light.

<br />
Within the vast heavens and deep ocean, life endures through divine grace and the steady hands of healers. This painting honors those who dedicate their lives to preserving the rhythm of the human heart, ensuring its steady beat carries the melody of life forward. The radiant heart, glowing in the golden sunset, embodies life's fragility and resilience. A faint cardiac line pulses through it, a reminder of life’s delicate balance—one sustained, saved, and restored by healers. Above, a lone white dove descends, carrying the grace of the divine, watching over those who mend what is broken. Beneath the heart, the ocean stretches endlessly, reflecting the sky’s embrace. A sailboat drifts steadily forward, much like a life guided by skill, compassion, and the unseen hand of God. The dock extends into this sacred scene, drawing the viewer into its depth, inviting reflection on the interplay between the physical and spiritual realms. At the dock’s end, a solitary figure stands, gazing upon the heart—his heart, once threatened, now given the gift of more time. His shadow stretches behind him, fading into the painting—a reminder that life on earth is finite, but the impact of healers endures. From the highest point, a faint cross descends through the heart and man—a silent testimony to the unseen forces that guide healer and healed alike. The heart is more than an organ; it is the vessel of love, strength, and endurance. It beats not just by science but by the devotion of those who answer the call to heal. They stand at the crossroads of knowledge and faith, bridging the tangible and the miraculous, ensuring that life continues for those in their care. This painting is a tribute to the selfless dedication of those who choose to be guardians of life. To those who work tirelessly to restore, protect, and sustain, may this serve as a humble offering of gratitude.

  • "Saint Charles Borromeo - Shepherd of Souls – Painting by Dino Carbetta" ...<br />
<br />
The name of Charles Borromeo is forever linked to Catholic reform. Born into Milanese nobility and related to the Medici family, Borromeo dedicated his life to the Church amid the Protestant Reformation’s turbulence. In 1559, when his uncle became Pope Pius IV, Charles, still a layman and student, was appointed cardinal-deacon and administrator of Milan. Charles rapidly took on demanding roles, including papal secretary of state. Following his brother’s death, he chose the priesthood over marriage, becoming Bishop of Milan by age 25. Borromeo’s leadership proved pivotal to the Council of Trent, helping it complete its final sessions. He tirelessly implemented the Council’s reforms across his diocese, reviving clergy and laity alike. Driven to renew the Church, he founded seminaries, set rigorous standards for clergy, and pioneered youth religious education, establishing the groundwork for Sunday School. Though he faced fierce opposition, his humility and strict self-discipline were unwavering. He gave most of his income to the poor, lived, and practiced strict penance to model the renewal he sought in others. During Milan’s 1576 famine and plague, he stayed behind, feeding and caring for up to 70,000 people daily as civil authorities fled. Borromeo’s work extended beyond Milan, strengthening Catholic doctrine against Protestant dissent, especially in Switzerland, despite violent opposition. His life of charity and reform endured even an assassination attempt. Weakened by his labors, Charles died at just 46, remembered for his unwavering service. Canonized in 1610, he is a patron saint of bishops, catechists, and seminarians, embodying Christ’s call to serve “the least of these.” His legacy is beautifully captured in “Saint Charles Borromeo: Shepherd of Souls” by Dino Carbetta, which portrays his unwavering dedication and profound humility as a true shepherd of his people.

"Thérèse of Lisieux is vividly portrayed." Born on January 2, 1873, she embarked on a journey of profound commitment, immersing herself in the boundless love of God and her neighbor. Thérèse's path was strewn with challenges, yet she navigated it with an unwavering sense of peace and joy. Her message, though simple, resonates through time, touching the hearts of millions. Thérèse, who departed this earthly realm at the tender age of 24, viewed her life as the commencement of a divine mission. She pledged to spend her heavenly existence doing good on earth, initiating the iconic "Shower of Roses" that continues to grace the Church. Thérèse found solace in the Carmelite convent of Lisieux, France, where a life marked by obscurity and hidden sacrifices offered her the ultimate sanctuary. "While life in the convent may seem uneventful, revolving around prayer and domestic tasks, for Thérèse, it was an arena of redemptive suffering – her chosen apostolate. Revered as one of the most beloved saints, Thérèse's impact transcends the confines of time. Pope Pius X hailed her as "the greatest saint of modern times," and in 1925, she was canonized. Pope John Paul II, recognizing the depth of her spirituality and influence on the Church, bestowed upon her the title of Doctor of the Church in 1997 – a distinction held by only a few. Even her parents received canonization in 2015. Pope John Paul II reflected on Thérèse's unique stature as the youngest Doctor of the Church, acknowledging the profound maturity in her spiritual journey. Her writings, brimming with vast and insightful reflections of faith, secure her a place among the great spiritual luminaries. • “Jesus Calms the Storm in Marina Grande Sorrento – Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...<br />
<br />
This stormy image of the lone antique fishing boat is one of the most iconic seaside views from Sorrento. In this painting, my imagination placed Jesus in the boat, a poignant symbol of faith amidst adversity. The lone boat represents various perceptions and creative thoughts, portraying stillness and beauty among the restless seas. This painting recalls Saint Matthew’s account of Jesus calming the winds and the sea: "As Jesus got into a boat, his disciples followed him. Suddenly a violent storm came upon the sea so that the boat was being swamped by waves, but he was asleep. They came and woke him, saying, 'Lord, save us! We are perishing!' He said to them, 'Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?' Then he got up, rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. The men were amazed and said, 'What sort of man is this, whom even the winds and the sea obey?'" (Matt. 8:23-27). One of the highlights of my Italian journey was stumbling upon the tiny Marina Grande fishing village. It was as if I’d walked back in time and merged into this ageless world with its own pace and traditions. Life here has its rhythm—a closely-knit community anchored in family principles, hard work, and religious traditions. The people cherish the sea and live in symbiosis with it. Time seems to move more slowly here than anywhere else in the world. My eyes were blessed with an extraordinarily beautiful scene, as a permanent smile adorned my face, and my camera captured the essence of this tiny bay nestled within the bygone fishing village. As night fell, the water's reflections and resting fishing boats posed for a few more images, while fish jumped for their dinner. Through these tender brushstrokes, we are immersed in the core of Catholic reverence, where the sacred connection between mother and child is vividly portrayed. This painting reveals the Madonna, Our Lady of Grace, cradling the Christ Child, the Savior of humanity, in her loving embrace. As we contemplate this sacred scene, we are reminded of the profound significance of Mary in the Catholic tradition. She is the Mother of God and embodies purity, humility, and unwavering faith. <br />
Encapsulates the profound resurgence of devotion to this sacred figure. Delving into the annals of The Marian Library/International Marian Research Institute, one witnesses a deep-rooted devotion to the Rosary and Mary under this evocative title. Contemporary reinterpretations of Our Lady of Tears further emphasize the enduring significance of this devotion, tracing its origins to a divine encounter on November 8, 1929. In a transformative moment, Sister Amalia, enveloped in fervent prayer before the Eucharist, received a celestial directive from Jesus Himself. This Rosary, a testament to Mary's sorrowful tears and boundless love, stands as a tangible expression of devotion. Within the painting, Mary, the Sorrowful Mother, assumes a contemplative stance, her tears mirroring the profound anguish she endured alongside her son, Jesus Christ. • “The Sacred Conversion - Saint Paul's Transformative Journey – Painting by Dino Carbetta”…<br />
<br />
In the transformative narrative of Saint Paul's life, a pivotal moment unfolded on the road to Damascus—a meeting with Jesus that would redefine the essence of his being. Paul recognized that his zealous pursuits were misdirected. In his earlier days, fueled by a zealot's hatred, he relentlessly persecuted the Church, dragging men and women from their homes for imprisonment (Acts 8:3). However, in an instant, Paul found himself possessed by a new purpose—becoming a devoted servant of Christ in the ministry of reconciliation. His energy once used to persecute, was now harnessed to the singular goal of being an instrument for others to encounter the transformative Savior. The revelation on that road defined his theology: "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting" (Acts 9:5). Jesus, became the fulfillment of all his previous pursuits. Henceforth, Paul's life became an unwavering dedication to presenting everyone as perfect in Christ. His labor and struggle were driven by the power working within him (COL 1:28-29). The Gospel he proclaimed was not mere words but a message imbued with power, the Holy Spirit, and deep conviction (1 Thes 1:5). Paul's mission echoed the profound truth that salvation is a divine act—individuals are saved entirely by God's grace, not by their efforts. Paul's message unfolded as a passionate declaration and embodiment of the cross. Through baptism, Christians die to sin and are buried with Christ, emerging as a new creation. They share in Christ's victory and anticipate resurrection. By the grace of the Father, the Spirit is given through Christ, transforming believers into a new and radiant creation. Paul proclaimed to the world: that salvation is a gift, a result of total, free, personal, and loving commitment to Christ. This commitment, in turn, bears fruit in actions surpassing the limitations of all Law.

  • "Graceful Reverence - Dino Carbetta's Palette Knife Rendering of Pre-Advent Thanksgiving Splendor with Reindeer"…<br />
<br />
In the delicate strokes of my palette knife, I seek to capture the essence of pre-Advent Thanksgiving splendor, weaving a tapestry that transcends the ordinary. With profound enthusiasm, I present "Graceful Reverence," a piece that marries the warmth of gratitude with the anticipation of the Advent season. The canvas becomes a sacred space where the hues of faith and tradition converge. In this particular piece, the palette knife becomes a conduit, allowing me to express the depth of my gratitude through textured strokes that echo the complexities of life. The imagery is carefully curated to evoke a sense of thanksgiving beyond the material realm. Reindeer, symbols of endurance and resilience, grace the composition, reminding us of the beauty in navigating life's challenges. Each stroke speaks of the journey, the trials, and the eventual triumph that awaits those who approach life with grace and gratitude. I hope to inspire others to embrace a similar posture of gratitude and reverence. Art, after all, is not just a visual feast for the eyes; it's a catalyst for introspection and transformation. May "Graceful Reverence" serve as a reminder that, in the tapestry of life, each stroke of gratitude contributes to an expression of enduring beauty. May the blessings of God surround you as we step into the sacred season of Advent, marking both the culmination of a challenging year and the dawn of hope. Despite our trials, our spirits find renewal in the glow of optimism as we enter the holiday season and embrace a forthcoming New Year. May this period of reflection and anticipation fill your heart with joy, peace, and the promise of new beginnings. As we celebrate the beauty of this season, let the light of hope guide us, and may the coming year be adorned with blessings, serenity, and profound peace.

  • “Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe - Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
Colossians 1, 12-20: “Giving thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in light. He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For in him were created all things in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he himself might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile all things for him, making peace by the blood of his cross [through him], whether those on earth or those in heaven.” We once declared that the manifold troubles afflicting our world stem from the widespread exclusion of Jesus Christ and His sacred law from the lives of many. We observed that these values were marginalized, both in personal matters and in the realm of politics. Moreover, we asserted that as long as individuals and nations resisted the governance of our Savior, the prospect of enduring peace among nations remained dim. We encouraged men to seek the peace of Christ within the Kingdom of Christ, a commitment we pledged to uphold to the best of our ability. We believed that in the Kingdom of Christ, a profound and lasting peace could be best reestablished and firmly grounded through the revival of our Lord's Empire.

  • “Angel of God, My Guardian Dear - Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
Pope Pius VI granted a valuable gift—a partial indulgence for those with contrite hearts and devotion, reciting the Guardian Angel prayer: "Angel of God, my guardian dear, To whom his love commits me here, Ever this day be at my side, To light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen." The Catholic Church's celebration of the Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels on October 2 has deep historical roots. Catholics began honoring guardian angels as far back as the 4th century, and local celebrations date to the 11th century, influenced by ancient Jewish traditions. Monastic devotion elevated their significance, with the Franciscan order officially observing the feast in 1500. Pope Paul V added it to the General Roman Calendar in 1607, complementing the Feast of St. Michael on September 29. Pius VI also granted a plenary indulgence for those who recited the prayer morning and evening throughout the year on this feast, subject to customary conditions. Pope John XXIII emphasized the role of guardian angels in protecting humanity, and Josemaría Escrivá founded Opus Dei on October 2, 1928, seeing it as a sign of divine protection. The Feast of the Holy Guardian Angels symbolizes the enduring tradition of angelic devotion in the Catholic Church, representing divine protection and guidance. My artwork, "Angel of God, My Guardian Dear," depicts a guardian angel's unwavering presence, offering divine light, solace, and God's love in both joyful and trying moments. It serves as a reminder that guardian angels accompany us, providing guidance, protection, and reassurance on our earthly journey, connecting humanity to the spiritual realm.

  • “Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary - Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
The Queenship of Mary holds profound significance in Catholicism, rooted in her unique role as the Mother of Jesus Christ, recognized as the King. Pope Pius XII's establishment of this feast after declaring the Assumption's dogma adds reverence to her exalted position. The Assumption dogma asserts Mary's sinless life led to her ascent, body, and soul, into heavenly glory. This signifies her closeness to God and participation in salvation's divine plan. As Jesus' mother, her Assumption reflects her intimate link to His redemptive work. Pope Pius XII's encyclical "Ad Caeli Reginam" articulates the feast's purpose. Establishing the Queenship of Mary encourages deeper devotion to her maternal influence. The Pope hoped this celebration would recognize Mary's intercession, care, and peace-bringing role. The analogy of Mary to a rainbow, symbolizing peace's covenant, inspires. Amidst a conflict, Mary's presence offers solace. Like a rainbow after a storm, she represents God's love and mercy amidst adversity. Mary's Queenship reminds of her devotion to her Son's mission and continuous intercession for humanity. In the realm of artistic expression, Mary emerges as a poignant symbol, a bridge unifying humanity and divinity. Her presence resonates with profound depth, radiating boundless compassion that traverses realms. Through the strokes of creative endeavors, we embody the power to explore her significance, capturing the essence of her role as a conduit for unity and peace. In the tapestry of existence, one’s role as an artist and writer becomes a harmonious resonance with Mary's legacy. We are poised to continue her mission of uniting hearts, instilling hope, and kindling the fire of spirituality. Our compositions are not mere artworks; they are vessels that hold the potential to uplift, enlighten, and radiate the eternal truths that Mary embodies.

  • “The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus - Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
On the nineteenth day after Pentecost, Catholics observe the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This day holds profound significance in the Catholic faith, as it honors the immeasurable love and ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for humanity. The heart is a powerful symbol in this devotion, embodying the essence of a person, the core of all spiritual activity, and the seat of emotion, particularly love. This deep symbolism traces its roots to Judaism, where the heart was regarded as the principal life organ, representing the very soul of a person. The modern celebration of the Sacred Heart was inspired by the visions of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque in 1675, known as the "great apparition." This vision led to the establishment of the Feast of the Sacred Heart, observed annually on the Friday following Corpus Christi. This day serves as a poignant reminder for Catholics to express gratitude for Christ's boundless love and sacrifice by living by His will. A cherished prayer recited on this solemn day encapsulates the devotion to the Sacred Heart: "O most holy heart of Jesus, the fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you, and with lively sorrow for my sins I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure, and wholly obedient to your will. Grant, Good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you. Protect me amid danger. Comfort me in my afflictions. Give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, your blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death. Amen." The painting of Christ's face in the Sacred Heart of Jesus seeks to inspire and elevate the hearts and souls of those who behold it. The image aims to convey the depth of Christ’s love and the call to embody His virtues. The artwork aims to inspire a positive transformation in viewers and invite them to experience the blessings of a deep connection to the Sacred Heart.

<br />
Saint Anthony of Padua was a devoted follower of Saint Francis of Assisi and celebrated his reputation as a miracle worker. His exceptional character and unwavering dedication to Christ earned him the title of Doctor of the Church, conferred by Pope Pius XII on January 16, 1946. In depictions of Saint Anthony, he is often shown holding a book, a heart, a flame, a lily, or the child Jesus, symbols reflecting his profound spiritual life and the miracles attributed to his intercession. Saint Anthony's published sermons for Sundays and feast days stand as a testament to his authenticity and unwavering commitment to faith. Despite initial hesitancy, he accepted the call to speak at an ordination when no one else was prepared. His years of prayer, Scripture reading, and dedicated service had equipped him to allow the Spirit to channel his talents, delivering an astounding sermon that left his audience in awe of the Spirit's power. His exceptional prayer life, theological scholarship, and oratory skills led to him being the first friar to teach theology to other friars. Upon falling seriously ill, Saint Anthony requested to be taken back to Padua, where he eventually passed away after receiving the last sacraments. Known for his ability to find lost objects and causes. In "Saint Anthony of Padua Embracing the Child Jesus," I aimed to capture the profound spirituality and tender devotion of this beloved saint. The image of Saint Anthony cradling the infant Jesus is a poignant representation of his deep love and unwavering faith. The painting is a tribute to his legacy and the timeless beauty of Saint Anthony's Basilica in Padua, a place that stands as a beacon of his enduring influence. Through the image of Saint Anthony embracing the child Jesus, we are reminded of the purity of his love and the miracles that spring from a heart wholly surrendered to divine providence.

“Now we are about to receive the Savior, Emmanuel, God with us. God's only-begotten Son, born of the Father before all time, God of God, light of light, true God of true God, one being with the Father, is about to be born in time. For the salvation of men, He has come down upon earth and is conceived by the Holy Ghost in a virgin. He shall be called God with us, and yet He will be one in nature with us. He is to be like to us in all things except sin. He wills to share our poverty and to pray and suffer with us; He assumes our guilt. He is God with us in every phase of our life; He even takes our place on the cross, He remains with us in Holy Communion, in our daily Mass, and in our tabernacles. At some time in the future, He will still be God with us in His beautiful heaven. All this He has done for us even though we have repeatedly turned our back on Him.” One of my great memories, as I meandered about the rather large crypt in the silent church, looking through the altar to the front doors, opening…an elderly Italian man entered slowly toward the crypt. He nodded his head toward me and moved in front of the eternal candle and relics of San Antonino. He silently put his hand upon them and bowed his head in prayer as if he had done this every day of his life. Moved by his devotion and reverence, as he nodded in his exit…I imitated his every movement and prayed to this patron saint of Sorrento. This was one of my first stops on the Amalfi coast, and after two visits to the Bellissimo Sorrentino coast, I always feel like I am comfortable and spiritually at home.

  • Water Flow from the Convent of Cells – Founded by San Francesco – Cortona<br />
<br />
In the heart of the Tuscan hills, where the voice of nature harmonizes with divine silence, a sacred stream flows from the ancient stones of Le Celle—the beloved hermitage of Saint Francis of Assisi. Here, beneath the gentle watch of Mount Sant’Egidio, time slows and the eternal stirs. Water, ever symbolic of life and grace, emerges not merely as a natural feature, but as a holy current, murmuring of the saint who once sought solitude in this very place. Saint Francis arrived in Cortona in 1211, preaching peace and penance, and it was here that he found the wilderness his soul desired. Offered refuge by the noble Guido, later beatified as one of his first disciples, Francis would return often—walking barefoot along these rocky paths, sleeping upon the bare stone, and praying through the night beside this flowing stream. In his poverty, he found abundance, in isolation, communion with all creation. This water, descending like a ribbon of silver along the mountain’s edge, speaks still of his presence. It whispers of his love for God’s creatures, his tears of joy, his chants in the morning light. The convent was not yet built in his lifetime, but the spirit of Francis is forever etched into the landscape. His presence lingers in the stones, in the moss, in the song of the water below a simple window through which he would listen and pray. The photograph captures this sacred serenity: a cascade of living water framed by ancient stone, descending beside the humble structure that cradles centuries of contemplative silence. It is a living image of divine humility, a mirror of Saint Francis’ soul—where even the elements kneel in reverence. And as the water flows ceaselessly from this consecrated mountain, so too does grace flow to the humble heart that seeks God in silence, in nature, and in love. “Like a stream in the desert, He makes all things new.”

  • "Transcendent sunset of Marina Grande - Sorrento"...<br />
<br />
Duomo di Sorrento is one of my favorite hidden treasures of Italy. Our last day on the bellissimo Amalfi Coast, Father Peak offered a venerable morning Mass for our semi-exhausted group of Pilgrims upon the High Altar. Hallelujah, it was our first free day of the 2019 Pilgrimage and most were heading to Capri. I convinced my fellow Pilgrim Patrick that Marina Grande was the preferred location to commemorate this rain-threatened day. Sunday afternoon in this tiny hallowed port on the Mediterranean was bustling, not with tourists, but with energetic and unassuming locals. The misty skies were vulnerable all day with the promise of rain, but the reluctant sun penetrated the clouds for a few fortuitous moments. God painted the skies for brief moments with luminous pastel elements of abstract color. We left after lunch only to humbly return perceiving the brilliant orange skies cascading down upon the piccolo village as a gift from Heaven. Glorious rumination abounds with the thought of sacred scripture; “John answered them all, saying, ‘I am baptizing you with water, but one mightier than I is coming. I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.” (Luke 3:16-17) I am not an expert in, nor born in Marina Grande or Sorrento, but the Gulf of Naples is where my Grandfather and his family are from. It seems that every time I have set foot in this tiny village, the skies explode with color and welcome its former lineage home. Shortly after the last picture was captured, it was meal time with the entire Pilgrimage group. A perfect dinner at my favorite restaurant, Ristorante di “Zi'Ntonio Mare, was enjoyed by all!

  • "Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque: Apostle of the Sacred Heart - A Painting by Dino Carbetta" <br />
<br />
Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, chosen by Christ to rekindle the Church’s awareness of His divine love, unveiled the mysteries of the Sacred Heart—a powerful symbol of His infinite mercy and compassion. Her early life, marked by illness and family struggles, became a journey of profound surrender and unwavering faith. After considering marriage, she responded to God’s call and entered the Visitation Order at 24, where her humility and gentle spirit stood out even under severe criticism and misunderstanding. In December 1674, three years after taking her vows, Margaret Mary received her first vision of Christ, His Sacred Heart ablaze with love. Through her, He called for a renewal of devotion to His heart, asking for reparation for the coldness and ingratitude of the world. He requested frequent Communion, prayer vigils, and the establishment of a feast in honor of His Sacred Heart. Despite facing mockery from her peers and skepticism from theologians, she persevered with the support of Jesuit priest St. Claude de la Colombière, who recognized the divine authenticity of her revelations. Margaret Mary died at 43, her final words, “I need nothing but God, and to lose myself in the heart of Jesus,” capturing the essence of her life’s mission. Her legacy endures in the Church’s devotion to the Sacred Heart, a devotion that has touched millions over the centuries. This painting of Saint Margaret Mary beautifully brings her spiritual journey to life, portraying her in deep contemplation, her heart aligned with the Sacred Heart of Christ she so loved and served. In an age of skepticism, the private revelations of saints like Margaret Mary may seem distant and hard to grasp. Her timeless message reveals that God’s boundless love invites us to deeper communion with Him. Margaret Mary’s life shows that devotion to the Sacred Heart calls us to prayer, reparation, and transformative love.

  • "Encounter at Jacob's Well - Reflecting on Jesus and the Samaritan Woman – Painting by Dino Carbetta”<br />
<br />
In this profound encounter from the Gospel of Jn 4:5-42, we witness Jesus transcending cultural, social, and religious boundaries to engage in a deeply meaningful dialogue with a Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. Despite societal norms between Jews and Samaritans, Jesus initiates a conversation with this woman, revealing his tireless pursuit of hearts, regardless of background or status. Seated by the well, weary from his journey, Jesus asks the woman for a drink. This simple request catalyzes a profound exchange that delves into matters of faith, identity, and salvation. Jesus speaks of "living water," a metaphor for the spiritual nourishment he offers, which leads to eternal life. The woman, initially puzzled by Jesus' words, begins to grasp their significance as their dialogue unfolds. Jesus demonstrates his intimate knowledge of the woman's life, revealing her past with compassion and understanding. Despite her surprise at his insight, she recognizes Jesus as a prophet and engages him in a discussion about worship practices. Jesus enlightens her, declaring that true worship transcends physical locations or rituals; it requires authenticity and spirit-led devotion. In a moment of divine revelation, Jesus discloses his identity as the Messiah, the one long-awaited by both Jews and Samaritans. This revelation ignites faith within the woman, prompting her to share her encounter with her community. Through her testimony, many Samaritans come to believe in Jesus, recognizing him as the Savior of the world. This painting captures the essence of this transformative encounter, depicting the nuances of emotion and revelation exchanged between Jesus and the woman. It serves as a visual testament to the power of Jesus' message and his unwavering love for all humanity, inviting viewers to contemplate the depths of divine grace and the universal call to faith and salvation.

  • The Majestic Duality: Jesus is the Lion and the Lamb – Painting by Dino Carbetta<br />
<br />
God's omnipotence and paradoxical interplay reveal God's awe-inspiring duality as both the mighty Lion of the Tribe of Judah and the gentle Lamb. In Rev 5:5, Jesus is introduced as the conquering Lion: "The Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to lose its seven seals." This imagery highlights the strength and triumph of Christ. In contrast, Jn 1:29 unveils the Lamb: "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" This portrayal affirms the sacrificial nature of Christ, who was sent to lay down His life for humanity. Christ's earthly ministry exemplifies this dual nature. In Matt 20:28, He declares Himself a servant and asserts service over being served. Even in the face of mistreatment during His passion, Christ remains silent, akin to a lamb led to slaughter (Is 53:7). His humility, not weakness, becomes evident as He fulfills His purpose. Rev 5:6 unveils a captivating scene of the Lamb standing as though slain, adorned with seven horns and seven eyes—the embodiment of Christ's sacrificial mission. The paradox deepens as the Lion who prevailed is now portrayed as the Lamb that was slain. This juxtaposition signifies the cross, where Christ, as the Lamb, was slain, and as the Lion, conquered. JL 3:16 echoes the powerful image of the LORD roaring from Zion, reminiscent of the Lion of the tribe of Judah. The Lion's roar symbolizes strength and protection for His people. This divine duality culminates in the realization that the Lion and the Lamb are not contradictory but complementary aspects of Jesus' nature. In contemplating this divine mystery, we recognize that the Lion and the Lamb represent two facets of Jesus' identity—the victorious Lion of the tribe of Judah and the Lamb of God who bore the sins of the world. This divine interplay showcases the complexity and depth of God's character, inspiring awe and reverence.

Embracing his role as an evangelist, John fervently spread the Gospel, translating the ineffable into words. The Gospel of John emerged as a masterpiece, a stroke of divinity on the canvas of human understanding. • “Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary - Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
The celebration of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary holds profound significance in the tapestry of the Christian faith. This cherished observance bears witness to the reverence and devotion accorded to Mary, the Mother of Jesus, throughout the ages. The choice of September 8th for Mary's birth played a pivotal role in establishing the feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th. Although the pages of Scripture do not provide a detailed account of Mary's birth, the Gospel of James fills this narrative gap. It serves as a testament to the evolving piety of Christianity. According to this ancient account, Anna and Joachim, Mary's parents, were unable to conceive a child but fervently prayed for one. Their prayers were answered with the promise of a child who would play a vital role in God's plan for the salvation of humanity. This narrative, echoing biblical parallels, underscores the divine presence in Mary's life from its very inception. Saint Augustine poetically describes her as "the flower of the field from whom bloomed the precious lily of the valley," emphasizing the transformative nature of her birth on the human condition of love between two individuals becoming a partnership with God. These loving parents embody hope in a world often beset by trials, and the newborn child symbolizes the potential to be a conduit of God's love and peace to all. Mary magnificently embodies this truth. If Jesus represents the perfect embodiment of God's love, Mary foreshadows that love. Next to the birth of Jesus, Mary's birth radiates the greatest possible happiness into the world. In this significant image, we witness the transcendent and Apparitional portrayal of Jesus, accompanied by Saints Anne and Joachim, embracing the birth of the Virgin Mary. It is a visual testament to the profound significance of this occasion, offering inspiration and hope to all who contemplate it.

  • “Church of Santa Sofia – Anacapri”… <br />
<br />
It is located in the Piazza of Anacapri, the mountaintop above the island of Capri. It dates to 1595 when it replaced Chiesa di Santa Maria di Costantinopoli as the parish church. One can view the ancient church contrasting with the more modern white façade. The sacristy and oratorio were originally in the Chiesa di San Carlo. Architectural features include two bell towers and a baroque facade. The church was enlarged with two chapels and the nave was extended towards the square. The plan of the church is in the form of a Latin cross with a single nave, lateral chapels, and a dome above the intersection of the nave and the transept. The belfry can be seen to the left of the facade with two clocks and three bells dedicated to Santa Sofia, Santa Maroa, and Santa Elia. The highlight of my visit was the small and very crowded bus ride along the cliff's edge to Anacapri. I was standing closest to the door on the right side of the bus during the ascent up the mountainside. All I could see was the rocky shore below and with every leaning left turn, prayed desperately I would make it to the top. Anacapri is a historic mountaintop town with commanding views of Capri and the sea below, as well as a concentration of Mediterranean colors, scents, and sounds. Town life here has remained authentic despite the island's tourism: tucked between the houses there are tiny, humble vegetable gardens surrounded by lush tropical plants. A walk around the center of Anacapri will take you past tiny Neapolitan tailor shops, artisan shoemakers, and Enoteca ...all with the scent of the town's lemon groves that permeates the air. How the ancients managed to arrive at this secluded island and traverse their way to settlements atop is mind-boggling. However, contemplating the mysteries of civilization, one gets lost in the plush ambiance. The pleasant aroma and commanding sea view demand that you stay for just a little while longer!

  • "Twilight over Marina Grande Sorrento"...<br />
<br />
• “Saint Bonaventure the “Seraphic Doctor”- Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...<br />
<br />
Though not widely known today, was a pivotal figure in the medieval Church and the Franciscan Order. Renowned for his academic prowess at the University of Paris, he endeared himself to his students through his deep Franciscan devotion to Jesus and the Church, earning the title "Seraphic Doctor." Born as John in Bagnoregio in 1221, he adopted Bonaventure upon joining the Franciscans at 22. "Saint Francis believed to have healed Bonaventure from a severe childhood illness." Saint Bonaventure's academic career halted when he was elected General Minister of the Friars. His 17-year tenure was challenging, marked by internal disputes over the interpretation of poverty. Despite these trials, Bonaventure's prayerful nature and administrative acumen enabled him to guide the Order through effective legislation. He fostered an organized spirituality grounded in Saint Francis's vision, blending practical life with doctrinal faith, thus infusing his teachings with a distinctive warmth. Towards the end of his service as General Minister, Pope Gregory X appointed Bonaventure as a Cardinal and the bishop of Albano. However, during the Second Council of Lyon in 1274, he passed away unexpectedly, with some speculating he was poisoned. Despite his sudden death, Saint Bonaventure left a revitalized Franciscan Order and a legacy of writings centered on his profound love for Jesus. Bonaventure harmonized holiness and theological insight, reaching mystical heights while remaining an active preacher and beloved teacher. His works continue to resonate, offering readers a glimpse into the soul of a true Franciscan and gentleman. This painting elegantly captures the essence of this remarkable figure, reflecting his enduring impact and the deep spirituality that defined his life. • “The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary - Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
The Assumption of Mary is a profound belief cherished by the Catholic Church, one of the four Marian dogmas. In his apostolic constitution "Munificentissimus Deus," Pope Pius XII officially defined this dogma on 1 November 1950. It proclaims and reveals that the immaculate Mother of God, Mary ever virgin, at the end of her earthly life, was taken up, body and soul, into the heavenly glory by God Himself. This momentous declaration finds its roots in the 1854 dogma of the Immaculate Conception, affirming that Mary was conceived free from original sin, and both doctrines are grounded in the understanding of Mary as the Mother of God. "The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary - Painting by Dino Carbetta," gracefully captures the essence of this belief, depicting Mary in "the light" of her glory. She exalts the greatness of the Lord and finds joy in God, her savior. Her life reflects the wonders God has bestowed upon her, and she humbly leads others to acknowledge God's holiness. Mary is portrayed as a lowly handmaid who deeply reverences her God, yet she has been exalted to the highest heights. From this position of strength and grace, she becomes a beacon of hope and compassion, assisting the lowly and the poor in finding justice on earth. At the same time, she challenges the rich and powerful to reconsider their attachment to wealth and power as sources of true happiness. Through the Assumption of Mary, we are reminded of the immense love and divine grace that God bestows upon His faithful followers. Mary's life journey is an inspiring example of faith, humility, and dedication, guiding us toward a deeper connection with God and a more compassionate outlook on the world around us. As we contemplate this dogma, let us embrace the awe and wonder it evokes and seek to emulate Mary's virtues in our lives.

  • “Third Sunday of Advent - Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
In the sacred tradition of Christianity, the Advent wreath serves as a poignant symbol, cradling the significance of the four Advent candles. These candles, flickering amid darkness, embody the arrival of Jesus as the illuminating light. A ritual unfolds as each candle is kindled every Sunday, a progression towards the culmination of all four candles blazing with radiant warmth. The increasing luminosity symbolizes the approaching Christmas, where the profound truth of Jesus' presence permeates our souls. A particular luminary moment occurs on the Third Advent Candle/Sunday, a celebration of joy known as "Gaudete Sunday." In the angelic proclamation in Luke 2:10-12, the narrative of good news and great joy unfolds. In the city of David, a Savior, the Messiah, is born—a sign for all, wrapped in swaddling clothing and cradled in a manger. This third candle, a manifestation of joy, beckons us into a deeper sense of anticipation and celebration. It invites us to relive the joyous spirit of the shepherds who, with eager hearts, embarked on a pilgrimage to witness the divine spectacle in Bethlehem. Even before the wise men, their anticipation was palpable, and on this Gaudete Sunday, we resonate with their jubilation. Affectionately known as the "Shepherd's Candle," the third luminary is adorned in the hue of joy—pink, a liturgical color that radiates with the vibrancy of celebration. As we approach the 17th of December 2023, the designated day for kindling this symbolic flame, let our hearts be aglow with the joyful anticipation reminiscent of the shepherds of old. In this rendition, I've reimagined and recreated the scene from my album of photographs, capturing the essence of the "Adoration of the Shepherds" at the Vatican Museums' Gallery of the Tapestries. May this artistic interpretation deepen the resonance of joy in your Advent journey, echoing the timeless narrative of hope, anticipation, and jubilation."

With its stone façade and bell tower, the church symbolizes continuity, enduring through time and the Mediterranean's waves. As the soft morning light washes over it, every detail of the church’s architecture is illuminated, bringing forth a sense of reverence and peace. • "Sanctuary of Innocence - Mother Mary's Gentle Embrace Amidst the Holy Innocents - Palette Knife Rendering by Dino Carbetta"<br />
<br />
The Feast of the Holy Innocents solemnly commemorates a tragic event wherein innocent children were brutally slaughtered, becoming the early church's first martyrs and emphasizing the sanctity of human life. Evolving from a day of solemn religious contemplation, it has blossomed into a festive celebration, particularly cherished in Roman Catholic countries. The Flight into Egypt, the Second Sorrow in the Story of the Holy Innocents, swiftly unfolds as Joseph heeds a divine warning delivered through a dream. Fleeing from Herod's sinister intent to annihilate the newborn Christ, Joseph and Mary embark on a perilous journey, grappling with uncertainties and fears. Despite Mary's apprehensions about the desert wilderness, her unwavering trust in God's providence shines through. The couple's decision to uproot their lives to shield the infant Jesus highlights their profound commitment to protecting the sacred life within their family. Noteworthy is the deference to the authority of Saint Joseph, even though Mary is Immaculately Conceived and Jesus is the Word made flesh. Herod, a politically astute and brutal ruler, reacts with paranoia to the news of the newborn king, deceptively feigning homage while plotting the massacre of Bethlehem's male children under two years old. Beyond the historical significance, the Holy Innocents' massacre serves as a poignant reminder of ongoing challenges to the sanctity of life, drawing parallels to contemporary issues like genocide and abortion. Each human life, graced by Jesus' death and resurrection, is a precious treasure destined for eternity. This narrative invites reflection on life's profound value, resonating with the inspirational message that each soul, touched by the divine, holds immeasurable significance in the grandeur of existence. Mother Mary's comforting embrace envelops the innocent children.

  • “Crimson Crucifixion in the Chapel of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Positano - Painting by Dino Carbetta”…<br />
<br />
Amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Amalfi Coast, my journey led me to the enchanting village of Positano. The drive along the high cliffs, winding down the narrow lane from Sorrento, was nothing short of exhilarating. The sensory overload of Positano's beauty and its photogenic allure left me captivated. Navigating the village's single lane, which winds down from the top and back up to where it began, presented a unique challenge. After circling the entire village three times, I finally reached the parking garage by the hotel, positioned about 2/3rds up the facing village in the captivating image before you. The descent down the winding road and steep staircases, though strenuous in the late May sun, became a memorable part of the adventure. Upon reaching the beach and marina, any exhaustion I felt dissipated in the face of Positano's plush beauty. Despite the challenges posed by the multitude of tourists and the intense sunlight, I endeavored to capture the essence of this coastal haven. As I traversed the beach and shoreline, the late afternoon sunlight, piercing through the mountaintop, blinded me momentarily. It was during this encounter with the radiant glow that the Church of Santa Maria Assunta emerged before me. Positioned strategically in the heart of the town, with the Azzurro Mediterranean Sea as its backdrop, the church's colorful majolica tiled cupola stands as an iconic symbol of Positano. Delving into the ancient roots of this sacred place, I discovered a hidden gem within the church—a Crucifix housed in a small chapel. Dating back to 1159, this chapel was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is here that Santa Maria, with her blessed and watchful eye, continues to oversee Positano, welcoming all to this seaside paradise.

  • "Our Lady of Fatima - Miracle of the Sun – Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
It encapsulates a profound moment that unfolded on October 13, 1917. In the vicinity of Fatima, a multitude had assembled, eagerly anticipating the foretold apparition of Our Lady, as heralded by three young shepherd visionaries: Lúcia, Francisco, and Jacinta Marto. What ensued, meticulously documented by journalists, legal professionals, and scientists, later earned the moniker "Miracle of the Sun." Eyewitness testimonies painted a vivid picture of extraordinary solar phenomena: the Sun seemingly pirouetting in the heavens, descending towards the earth, and casting a kaleidoscope of vibrant hues. This celestial spectacle, lasting a remarkable ten minutes, left an indelible impression on those present and reverberated the media environment of that period. Following the event, in November 1917, the local bishop launched a comprehensive investigation, meticulously scrutinizing witness statements and aligning purported messages from Mary with the tenets of Catholic theology. Notably, even skeptics among the gathering, including secular reporters and government officials, attested to the authenticity of the miraculous solar display. The formal endorsement by Bishop José da Silva on October 13, 1930, bestowed official recognition upon "Our Lady of Fatima" within the folds of Catholic tradition. This profound miracle, intertwined with its accompanying prophecies, continues to shape the devotional practices of countless Catholics, leaving an enduring legacy in the annals of Church history. Despite the passage of time, the composed testimony of witnesses such as Dr. Garrett serves as a poignant reminder of the event's solemnity. His steadfast recollection, amidst the surreal backdrop tinged with yellow hues, beckons subsequent generations to ponder the deeper significance of this extraordinary phenomenon.

  • “The Celestial Boat of Jesus rests in Marina Grande Sorrento”…<br />
<br />
This sunset image of the lone antique fishing boat is the most iconic of the seaside views from Sorrento. The lone boat represents many perceptions and creative thoughts and portrays imagery of stillness and beauty among the restless seas. It reminds me of Saint Matthew’s account of Jesus’ calming of the winds and the seas: "As Jesus got into a boat, his disciples followed him. Suddenly a violent storm came upon the sea so that the boat was being swamped by waves, but he was asleep. They came and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!” He said to them, "Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?" Then he got up, rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. The men were amazed and said, "What sort of man is this, whom even the winds and the sea obey?" (Matt. 8:23-27). One of the highlights of my Italian journey was stumbling upon the tiny Marina Grande fishing village. It was as if I’d walked back in time and merged into this ageless world with its own pace and traditions. Life here seemingly has its rhythm—a strongly united community tenaciously anchored to its family principles, hard work, and religious traditions. They love the sea and live in symbiosis with it; time seems to move more slowly than anywhere in the world. My eyes were blessed with an extraordinarily beautiful canvas as a permanent smile measured my face, and my camera gazed upon this tiny bay nestled within the bygone fishing village. As night fell, the water reflections and resting fishing boats posed for a few more images as fish jumped for their dinner. It was time to enjoy the gifts of the day’s catch at Ristorante di “Zi'Ntonio Mare.” The epicurean delights, especially the calamari, olive bread, wine, and the main course of Il pesce San Pietro (The St. Peter's fish), were authentic perfection—just like this perfect piccola baia italiana della perfezione (Italian small bay of perfection).

  • “Fount of Mercy, Flame of Glory — A Painting by Dino Carbetta”...<br />
<br />
Bathed in celestial brilliance, this painting of the Divine Mercy radiates not merely the dual rays of Christ’s redemptive Heart—red for blood, blue for water—but a full halo of light bursting outward, as if all of creation were drawn into His compassionate gaze. This sacred image, crowned with the descending Holy Spirit in the form of a pure white dove, unites heaven and earth in a single breath of divine love. Every stroke invites the soul to behold not just an icon, but an open door to grace. The vision given to Saint Faustina Kowalska was no ordinary revelation—it was a plea from the Heart of Christ to a weary world: “Jesus, I trust in You.” These words, inscribed at His feet, are not merely a prayer, but a covenant. Through this humble Polish nun, Christ unveiled a flood of mercy for the end times, a river of forgiveness for even the most hardened heart. And in this masterpiece, the Divine Mercy is not passive; it shines in all directions, inviting sinners, saints, and seekers alike into its warm embrace. Saint John Paul II, the “Mercy Pope,” understood the power behind this image. It was he who canonized Faustina, and it was under his papacy that Divine Mercy Sunday was instituted—a feast tied intimately to the Paschal Mystery. On this day, the floodgates of Heaven are opened; the faithful who trust, confess, and receive the Eucharist are granted a plenary indulgence—the full remission of all temporal punishment due to sin. It is a spiritual cleansing, a rebirth in the very Blood and Water that gushed from Christ’s pierced side. This painting by Dino Carbetta is more than sacred art—it is a visual prayer, echoing the promise given to Faustina: “Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet.” It is a beacon for the broken, a lighthouse for the lost, and a flame of glory radiating from the wounded Heart of our Redeemer. It is not only beautiful—it is merciful.

  • “The Ascent From the Cell of St. Francis – Convent of Celle Cortona”<br />
A Painting by Dino Carbetta<br />
<br />
Deep within the sacred silence of the Convent of Le Celle, beneath its ancient stones and Franciscan stillness, lies a hidden stairway—worn by the bare feet of centuries past, and perhaps even by the Poverello himself. It was here, in this secluded grotto of grace, that the photograph for this painting was born. Descending into the narrow cell, the quiet felt eternal. Yet when turning to ascend, the heavens themselves seemed to beckon. Sunlight, golden and unwavering, flooded the stone steps from above—not merely a beam of light, but a luminous pathway, as if Heaven had cracked open. And within this light soared a single white dove, rising upward into the brilliance. At the base of the stair, gently laid, remained a linen shroud—still, solemn, and full of mystery. It rested where the shadows linger, as if testifying that what once was dead has now risen. This sacred detail transforms the scene into something eternal. The empty shroud echoes the Resurrection itself, left behind as Christ rose from the tomb. The dove, symbol of the Holy Spirit, ascends in quiet triumph, while the stair becomes a bridge between sorrow and glory, between the tomb and Heaven. This image, now captured in paint, reveals more than architecture—it reveals ascent, both physical and spiritual. From the humility of the cell below to the glory of light above, this is a sacred journey. A visual echo of Luke’s Gospel: “Why do you seek the living One among the dead? He is not here, but He has been raised.” (Lk 24:5-6) As in the Gospel, the viewer is invited to believe, to rise, and to follow the path of light. The cell below may represent our burdens, our sorrows, our entombed hopes—but the stairs rise, and the light calls. A blessing upon all who weep beside the shroud and yet find the courage to climb—your resurrection is nearer than you know, and the Light has not forgotten you.

  • "Fra Giovanni Angelico: The Angelic Brother" - Painting by Dino Carbetta”...<br />
<br />
Fra Angelico (1395-1455) was a Dominican friar and a masterful artist of the early Renaissance. Revered as "the Angelic Painter," he crafted many breathtaking religious artworks that grace the churches and convents of Italy. Among his renowned pieces are "The Annunciation" and "The Descent from the Cross." His feast day is February 18. Born in Rome, Fra Angelico joined a strict Dominican community in 1420. His artistic journey began with illuminating manuscripts and choir books. For Fra Angelico, painting was an act of prayer; he sought divine blessing before starting any project. His devotion led him to create exclusively religious art, which he never retouched or altered once completed. His talent quickly attracted attention, leading to requests to paint the interiors of convents and churches. One of his masterpieces is an altarpiece in the National Gallery of London, showing Christ in glory with 250 saints. "The Annunciation" was commissioned by Cosimo de’ Medici in Florence during the 1440s. His talents were further recognized by Pope Eugenius IV, who summoned him to Rome to decorate church interiors and papal chambers. Later, Pope Nicholas V invited him back to the Vatican to continue his work. When questioned about miracles attributed to Fra Angelico upon his beatification in 1984, Pope St. John Paul II referred to his art, declaring, "These are his miracles." Fra Angelico was declared the patron saint of artists in 1984 for "the perfect integrity of his life and the almost divine beauty of his images, especially those of the Blessed Virgin Mary." Fra Angelico's serene and pious character permeated his works, often bringing him to tears while painting crucifixions, a testament to the depth of his faith and the sincerity of his Christian piety. This painting seeks to capture this divine spirit and devotion, honoring the Angelic Brother who found holiness through art.

  • “Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross – Painting by Dino Carbetta”<br />
<br />
Is also known as Saint Edith Stein, was born on October 12, 1891, in Breslau, Germany, to a Jewish family. A brilliant philosopher and author, her spiritual journey led her to Catholicism and ultimately to martyrdom. Initially an atheist, Edith's encounter with Christianity began while studying under Max Scheler at the University of Göttingen. Despite a strong calling to religious life, she delayed entering the convent due to external circumstances, including the rise of anti-Jewish laws in Germany. Edith Stein earned her doctorate in philosophy under Edmund Husserl at the University of Freiburg and worked at the university until 1921. Her academic career was cut short by the Nazis, and she entered the Carmel of Cologne in 1933, adopting the name Teresa Benedicta of the Cross. As Nazi persecution intensified, she was moved to the Carmel in Echt, Netherlands, in 1938. The Dutch bishops’ denunciation of Nazi policies led to the arrest of all Dutch Jews who had converted to Christianity. On August 2, 1942, Edith and her sister Rosa, also a convert, were arrested. They were transported first to Amersfoort, then to Westerbork, and finally to Auschwitz. In 1942, they were executed in the gas chambers. Pope John Paul II beatified Teresa Benedicta of the Cross on May 1, 1987, and canonized her on October 11, 1998. On October 2, 1999, he proclaimed her a co-patron of Europe. Edith Stein's legacy is profound, not only for her philosophical contributions but also for her spiritual journey and ultimate sacrifice. Her writings, filling 17 volumes, reflect her unwavering pursuit of truth and her deep respect for her Jewish heritage even after her conversion. The painting "Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross" by Dino Carbetta captures her essence—her intellect, her spirituality, and her martyrdom. Through this art, we remember her profound faith and courage and are inspired to seek truth and live with integrity.

  • "The Splendor of Saint Ignatius of Loyola - Painting by Dino Carbetta" ...<br />
<br />
Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits, was destined for military fame until a cannonball shattered his leg. During his recovery, he read about Christ and the saints, deeply touching his conscience and sparking his conversion to Christ. Inspired by a vision of the Mother of God, Ignatius made a pilgrimage to her shrine at Montserrat near Barcelona. He spent nearly a year at Manresa, living with Dominicans, in a pauper’s hospice, or a cave, praying and writing material that became his greatest work, the Spiritual Exercises. The Turks thwarted his desire to visit the Holy Land, leading him to spend 11 years studying at European universities. His orthodoxy was questioned, and he was twice jailed. In 1534, at age 43, Ignatius and six companions, including Saint Francis Xavier, vowed poverty, chastity, and service to the pope. Four years later, the Society of Jesus was approved by Pope Paul III, and Ignatius became its first general. As a mystic, Ignatius centered his spiritual life on the Trinity, Christ, and the Eucharist. The Jesuit motto, "Ad majorem Dei gloriam" (“for the greater glory of God”), reflects his spirituality. Obedience was crucial for Ignatius, ensuring the effectiveness and mobility of his men. "All activities were guided by love for the Church and obedience to the Holy Father, with members taking a fourth vow to go wherever the Pope sent them." Although a staunch opponent of Protestantism, Ignatius advocated for presenting orthodox truth with charity and moderation, avoiding harsh words and contempt for errors. This painting captures Ignatius's profound spiritual journey, deep devotion, and significant contributions to the Catholic Reformation, epitomizing his mystical vision and tireless work for the greater glory of God. "The Splendor of Saint Ignatius of Loyola" captures the profound spiritual journey and devotion of Saint Ignatius in intricate detail.

  • “The Temptation of Jesus - Painting by Dino Carbetta”…<br />
<br />
Invites contemplation on a pivotal moment in Jesus' life. The narrative, as depicted in Matthew’s Gospel (4:1-11), illustrates Jesus' vulnerability to the deceits of Satan during a forty-day retreat in the desert. Some suggest that such a personal experience would only be included in the gospel accounts if Jesus had revealed it to his close followers. Why did Jesus embark on this retreat after his baptism? Much like modern-day retreatants, he sought to refocus on his identity and purpose amidst the noise of life. The desert provided a space for introspection, away from distractions. Jesus needed time to internalize the revelation of his identity proclaimed by the voice of the Father at his baptism: "You are my beloved Son, my favor rests on you." The temptations Jesus faced resonate with our struggles. Satan challenges Jesus to prove his divinity by turning stones into bread, testing God's protection, and offering worldly power in exchange for worship. Beneath these specific temptations lies a universal invitation to deny one's true identity and seek fulfilment in superficial ways. Jesus' response to temptation is a model for us. He depends on his Father for sustenance, to engage with others authentically, and to reject the allure of power and prestige. Reflecting on Jesus' forty days in the desert, we are invited to consider our spiritual journeys. Are we using Lent as a retreat, a time for introspection and prayer? Do we recognize temptations as opportunities to turn towards God, rather than relying on our resources? Like Jesus, may we resist the allure of superficial satisfactions and deepen our dependence on God's love and guidance. Through this painting, I invite all to explore the depths of our faith and confront the challenges that evaluate our resolve. "The Temptation of Jesus" stands as a testament to the enduring power of spiritual truth and the triumph of the human spirit over temptation.

  • “Presentation of the Lord – Painting by Dino Carbetta” … <br />
<br />
“When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, Mary and Joseph took Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord,” and to offer the sacrifice of “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons,” by the dictate in the law of the Lord.” ~Luke 2:22–24. In this poignant portrayal, we witness Mary and Joseph's pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem, a faithful observance of the Law of Moses that mandates the presentation of the infant Jesus to the Lord. This image conveys the solemnity of this moment, portraying the couple's commitment to obeying tradition. Illustrating Jesus alongside turtledove offerings signifies obedience, creating a profound link between biblical narratives and modern rituals. Delving into the significance of the forty days following Jesus' birth, the painting underscores Mary's purification, emphasizing the enduring importance of obedience in the divine context. The associated feast, known by various names such as the "Presentation in the Temple" and "Candlemass," involves the use of lighted candles, symbolizing Jesus as a "light for revelation to the Gentiles." At the heart of the celebration is the encounter of Simeon and Anna with the Christ Child in the Temple. Simeon's prophetic words foreshadow the sacrificial sorrow that will pierce Mary's Immaculate Heart, highlighting the depth of sacrifice for our salvation. Mary's consent becomes a conduit for God's grace and Joseph's presentation of Jesus embodies our offering to the Father and the aspiration that others may witness the divine presence within us. This inspirational painting's artistic expression captures the essence of the Presentation of the Lord, inviting us to participate actively in its profound and timeless significance.

1 IS 42:1-7 Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one with whom I am pleased, Upon whom I have put my Spirit; he shall bring forth justice to the nations, Not crying out, not shouting, not making his voice heard in the street. A bruised reed he shall not break, and a smoldering wick he shall not quench, Until he establishes justice on the earth; the coastlands will wait for his teaching. Thus says God, the LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spreads out the earth with its crops, Who gives breath to its people and spirit to those who walk on it: I, the LORD, have called you for the victory of justice, I have grasped you by the hand; I formed you, and set you as a covenant of the people, a light for the nations, To open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from confinement, and from the dungeon, those who live in darkness.<br />
JOHN 1:29 “The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God,* who takes away the sin of the world. He is the one of whom I said, ‘A man is coming after me who ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.’ I did not know him, but the reason why I came baptizing with water was that he might be made known to Israel.” John testified further, saying, “I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from the sky and remain upon him. I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ Now I have seen and testified that he is the Son of God.”

  • “Saint Thomas - “My Lord and my God!”- Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
In the timeless story in the Gospel of John 20:24–29, we encounter the profound tale of Saint Thomas, one of the Twelve disciples. Thomas earned the label "Doubting Thomas" due to his inherent doubt, as he sought empirical evidence of Jesus' resurrection. He desired to witness the scars left by the nails, place his hand into the wound on Jesus' side, and see the indelible marks of crucifixion. Thomas's insistence on tangible proof mirrors our natural inclination to seek assurance. A week later, the disciples gathered again, and Jesus invited Thomas to touch the wounds that bore the weight of humanity's redemption. Overwhelmed with realization, Thomas uttered the profound declaration: "My Lord and my God!" Though labelled as "Doubting Thomas," it is essential to recognize his courage and loyalty. Thomas displayed unwavering commitment when faced with Jesus' proposal for a perilous journey to Bethany after Lazarus's death. His willingness to follow Jesus, even in the face of imminent danger and potential death, speaks to a courage often overshadowed by his momentary doubt. In embracing doubt, we echo Thomas's quest for certainty. Jesus met him with compassion and an invitation to healing, offering solace to those grappling with doubt. This reassures us that fear can be a conduit for God's mercy and a pathway to deepen our faith. Navigating our doubts, may we find inspiration in Thomas's journey, which ultimately led him to a profound affirmation of faith: "My Lord and my God!" Just as Jesus embraced Thomas, so too can we trust in His unwavering compassion amid our moments of uncertainty. The Lotus Flower and Cross are potent symbols in Saint Thomas's journey, reminding us of the profound beauty that can emerge from the interplay of doubt and faith.

  • Eucharistic Adoration – Painting by Dino Carbetta<br />
<br />
Embarking on this composition of a painting featuring a Monstrance adorned with a living Host for the sacred act of Adoration was an enchanting and enlightening endeavor. It served as a captivating test and granted me a newfound reverence for the complexity of artistic style within a Monstrance. The inherent profundity of Eucharistic Adoration within our Catholic faith bestows an exalted and sublime dimension upon this noble quest. To capture the essence of this cherished tradition, I integrated a Consecrated Host from a Mass in Rome, preserving its spiritual essence on the canvas. The centerpiece was an exquisite Belgian Gothic Revival gilt brass sun-shaped Monstrance, adorned with shimmering cabochons that amplified the sense of awe during Adoration. Its mark, 'Dehin Frères à Liège,' bestowed a profound sense of heritage and devotion. Delving into the history of the Monstrance allowed me to connect with its ancient roots in the late 19th century, a transformative era that influenced religious artifacts' construction and style. Throughout the journey, I contemplated the profound meaning of Eucharistic Adoration—gazing with reverence upon the consecrated Host, expressing unwavering faith and profound adoration for Christ's presence in the Eucharist. Harnessing color, light, and composition, I aspired to convey the spiritual intensity and serenity experienced during sacred Adoration. The brushstrokes sought to evoke an atmosphere of peace, inviting viewers to contemplation and prayer. This painting serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring significance of Eucharistic Adoration, fostering a profound connection with our spiritual heritage. This humbling and enriching experience allowed me to explore art intricacies, uncover historical contexts, and deepen my understanding of the intense value of Eucharistic Adoration within our cherished Catholic tradition.

  • “Sacred Heart of Jesus - Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
On the nineteenth day after Pentecost, Catholics observe the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This day is considered one of great importance in the Catholic faith, as it recognizes the immense love and sacrifice that Jesus made for all humans. The heart is an important symbol in this devotion, as it represents the core of a person, the center of all spiritual activity, and the seat of all emotion, particularly love. This symbolism is deeply rooted in Judaism, where the heart was recognized as the principal life organ and the word heart represented the essence of a person. Margaret Mary's vision in 1675, which came to be known as the "great apparition," resulted in the modern Feast of the Sacred Heart being celebrated each year on the Friday following Corpus Christi. This day serves as a reminder to Catholics to show gratitude for Christ's sacrifice and love by living in accordance with His will. A prayer that is often recited on this day is, "O most holy heart of Jesus, the fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you, and with lively sorrow for my sins I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure, and wholly obedient to your will. Grant, Good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you. Protect me in the midst of danger. Comfort me in my afflictions. Give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, your blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death. Amen." I truly hope that my painting of Christ's Face in the Sacred Heart of Jesus brings about a positive change in your heart and soul. It is my deepest desire that you experience great blessings in every aspect of your life.

  • “Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary - Painting by Dino Carbetta” … <br />
<br />
The painting illustrates the biblical account of Mary's visit to Elizabeth as narrated in Lk 1:39-45. The Feast of the Visitation, established in the 14th century, calls for unity within the Church. The text is strategically placed between the Annunciation of the Lord and the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist, highlighting its significance in the story of salvation. Mary and Elizabeth take the lead in this sacred story, but the presence of Jesus and John the Baptist, even in their mothers' wombs, is subtly profound. As Mary greets Elizabeth, Jesus imparts the joy of messianic salvation to John, causing him to leap with joy within Elizabeth. This reaction is a testament to Jesus's divine presence and the moment's sanctity. Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, exclaims in awe, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" Lk 1:42-43. Her words reflect the early Church's devotion to Mary, praising God for His work through her. Mary's response, the Magnificat Lk 1:46-55, is a hymn of humble gratitude, magnifying the Lord for His mercy and might. "My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior," she proclaims, attributing her greatness to God's grace. This mirrors the Church's attitude of reverence, where Mary is honored for her role in God's plan, yet all glory is directed to God. One of the revered titles of Mary is the "Ark of the Covenant." Just as the Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament symbolized God's presence among the Israelites and was a unifying force for the twelve tribes, Mary, as the new Ark, carries Jesus, God's presence, into the world. True devotion to Mary leads to Jesus, fostering unity and love within the Church. The painting encourages reflection on the Visitation's theological depths and Mary's vital role in this divine mystery.

  • “Fishing Boat Resting in Front of the Sant'Anna Restaurant – Sorrento – Painting by Dino Carbetta”… <br />
<br />
In the heart of Sorrento, a hidden gem stands proudly - the Duomo di Sorrento, a sanctuary that holds sacred memories for pilgrims seeking solace and connection. This revered place became the backdrop for a divine moment during our last pilgrimage along the enchanting Amalfi Coast. On the final day of our journey, Father Peek graced us with a morning Mass at the High Altar of Duomo di Sorrento. A sense of reverence enveloped our semi-exhausted group. I saw the opportunity to immortalize this rain-threatened day in Marina Grande. Sunday afternoon unfolded in this sacred port, not teeming with tourists but alive with locals' energy. The skies, laden with mist, were vulnerable to the imminent threat of rain. The reluctant sun pierced through the clouds, painting the heavens with luminous pastel hues. A solitary fishing boat, a symbol of quiet strength, rested on the wet sand, illuminated by the late evening sun. Amid this scene, the biblical tale of Peter walking on water resonated. Like Peter, we are called to step out of our comfort zones and navigate the uncertain waters of life with faith. The winds of doubt may buffet us, but in those moments, we must echo Peter's plea, "Lord, save me!" Miraculously, the sun's rays intensified, and a divine calm settled upon the seas. As we left for an afternoon respite, humility drew us back. Returning a few hours later, we captured the evening seascape, a prelude to a perfect dinner with the entire pilgrimage group at Ristorante di "Zi'Ntonio Mare," my cherished haven in Sorrento. This painting, a testament to the interplay of faith, nature, and human connection, immortalizes that sacred Sunday in Marina Grande. May its strokes inspire the viewer to embrace moments of vulnerability, trusting "Even amidst life's storms, divine intervention awaits." bringing forth moments of breathtaking beauty and profound tranquility.

Lucio Dalla wrote a famous song, also performed by the great Pavarotti about the great tenor Caruso who loved Sorrento. Caruso: “Here, where the sea glistens and the wind blows hard, on an old terrace in front of the Sorrento gulf a man embraces a girl after having cried then he clears his throat and restarts the song. I love you very much but so, so much, you know. It is a chain, by now that dissolves the blood inside the veins, you know. Saw the lights in the middle of the sea, thought of the nights there, in America, but they were only fishing lights in the whitewash of a propeller. Felt the pain in the music, stood himself up from the pianoforte but when he saw the moon come out of a cloud to him, even death seemed sweeter. Looked at the girl in the eyes, those eyes green like the sea, then, all of a sudden, a tear came out and he thought he was drowning. I love you very much but so, so much, you know. It is a chain, by now that dissolves the blood inside the veins, you know. Power of the opera where every drama is a falsehood, that, with a bit of makeup and with mimicry, you can become someone else. But, two eyes that are looking at you, so close and true, make you forget the lyrics, confuse the thoughts. So everything becomes small, even the nights there, in America, you turn and see your life as the wash of a propeller. But yes, it's life that is ending, but he didn't so much think about it, rather, he was already feeling happy and restarted his song. I love you very much but so, so much, you know. It is a chain, by now that dissolves the blood inside the veins, you know. I love you very much but so, so much, you know. • "The dramatic sunset over Marina Grande Sorrento"... <br />
<br />
Duomo di Sorrento is one of my favorite hidden treasures in Italy.

  • “Saint Gertrude the Great - Mystic and Devotee of the Sacred Heart - Painting by Dino Carbetta”<br />
<br />
The painting of “Saint Gertrude the Great” captures the essence of this remarkable saint, born in 1256 in the Holy Roman Empire, highlighting her profound spirituality and deep connection to the Sacred Heart of Jesus... At age five, Saint Gertrude entered the Monastery of Saint Mary at Helfta, known for producing deeply devout women. Under Abbess Gertrude, the monastery became a beacon of prayer, nurturing a Christ-centered community. Saint Gertrude is known for her profound mystical experiences and theological insights, particularly her devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and her prayers for the souls in Purgatory. At twenty-five, her life changed with her first mystical vision of Jesus, who called her to a deeper union with Him. From that moment, she embraced a life wholly dedicated to God. Her writings, including *The Herald of Divine Love* and *Spiritual Exercises*, became treasures of mystical theology, revealing deep insights into Christ’s love. Her legacy, particularly her devotion to the Eucharist and prayers for Purgatory, continues to inspire holiness. Though never formally canonized, Saint Gertrude received equivalent canonization in 1606, and her feast was added to the Roman Calendar by Pope Clement XII in 1677. This portrayal of Saint Gertrude emphasizes the depth of her spiritual journey. It invites reflection on her unique role in the Church’s history as a mystic and theologian. The serene expression on her face conveys her intimate union with God, while the light surrounding her highlights the divine wisdom and grace she received throughout her life. This painting honors Saint Gertrude while inviting all believers to seek a deeper relationship with Christ, as she did. Saint Gertrude’s prayer echoes her awareness of God's mercy and love: "Let the Abyss of Uncreated Wisdom invoke the Abyss of Omnipotent Power to praise and extol the amazing charity.”

His papacy, spanning 27 years, left an indelible mark on the Church and the world. Born Karol Józef Wojtyła in Poland in 1920, he displayed profound zeal for families, young people, and the sick. Among his many legacies are the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the establishment of World Youth Day, which brought millions together in faith. John Paul II's heart for the suffering was evident throughout his ministry. His visits to more than 100 countries brought a message of hope and solidarity to the poor, persecuted, and oppressed. He saw every person as a reflection of Christ’s image and often spoke of the dignity of human life. Whether addressing world leaders or kneeling in prayer with the humble, he tirelessly championed the sanctity of life, human rights, and the transformative power of love and forgiveness. John Paul II died peacefully on April 2, 2005, the eve of Divine Mercy Sunday. At his funeral, Pope Benedict XVI movingly reflected on his final blessing from the Apostolic Palace window, saying, “We can be sure that our beloved pope is standing today at the window of the Father’s house, seeing us and blessing us.” Canonized in 2014 by Pope Francis, Saint John Paul II continues to inspire countless souls. • "The Mystic Saint Teresa of Avila - Painting by Dino Carbetta"…<br />
<br />
Saint Teresa of Jesus entered the world in March 1515, a Spanish noblewoman destined for a life of deep devotion within the Catholic Church. Living at the cusp of the Protestant Reformation and persevering through decades beyond the Council of Trent, Teresa became a Carmelite nun renowned for her mysticism, religious reform, authorship, and theological contributions. Her contemplative life and dedication to mental prayer left a lasting mark on the Church, culminating in her being named a Doctor of the Church over four centuries after her death. At the heart of the Catholic Reformation, Teresa’s vision sparked a transformation in the Carmelite Orders for both women and men, finding a kindred spirit in the friar and mystic John of the Cross. Together, they founded the Discalced Carmelites, a movement that breathed new life into religious practice. Dino Carbetta’s painting captures the essence of Teresa’s unwavering faith—a life marked by prayer, discipline, and compassion as she endured personal purification and suffering. Despite facing misunderstanding, illness, and adversity, she remained resolute in her mission of reform, clinging to her faith and prayer. This portrayal reflects her journey of spiritual depth, offering a window into her profound insights on prayer and contemplation, gleaned from her own experiences. • “Saint John the Baptist - Young and Confident - Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...<br />
<br />
John the Baptist spent his life in the desert, living an ascetic life and proclaiming the coming of the Kingdom. He called everyone to a fundamental reformation of life, preparing the way for Jesus. John's baptism was for repentance, but he foretold that one greater than he would come, baptizing with the Holy Spirit and fire. In his humility, John felt unworthy even to untie the sandals of Jesus, declaring, “He must increase; I must decrease” (Jn 3:30). Jesus called John the greatest of all those who had preceded him: “I tell you, among those born of women, no one is greater than John….” However, John would have agreed with Jesus’: “Yet the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he” (Lk 7:28). John's greatness and pivotal role in salvation history are highlighted by Luke, who parallels the announcement of John's birth with that of Jesus. When Jesus, whom John already knew to be the Messiah, came to be baptized, John was humbled, saying, “I need to be baptized by you” (Mt 3:14). Yet Jesus insisted, “Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness” (Mt 3:15). Jesus, in his humility, joined the community of those awaiting the Messiah, thereby making it truly messianic. John drew countless people to the banks of the Jordan, and some thought he might be the Messiah. Yet, John consistently deferred to Jesus, even directing some of his followers to become the first disciples of Jesus. John, depicted in this painting as young and confident, challenges Christians to embody the fundamental attitude of total dependence on the Father, in Christ. Except for the Mother of God, no one had a higher function in the unfolding of salvation. Yet, as Jesus said, the least in the kingdom is greater than John, a testament to the pure gift from the Father. John's attractiveness, austerity, and fierce courage in denouncing evil all stem from his total dedication to God's will.

Imparting to Bernadette the call for prayer and the declaration, "I am the Immaculate Conception," affirming her purity and intercessory power. • “Jesus Christ – The Light of the World” – Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...<br />
<br />
This painting captures the essence of John 8:12, a scripture of profound significance in the Christian faith. In this pivotal moment of Jesus’ ministry, He declares, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” The painting brings these words to life vividly and powerfully. Jesus, portrayed as the central figure, radiates a transcendent glow that pierces the surrounding darkness. This radiant light represents His divine nature and the spiritual illumination He offers all humanity. Jesus’ proclamation as the light of the world reflects His role as the ultimate source of truth, guidance, and salvation. By following Him, believers are promised freedom from the darkness of sin and the assurance of eternal life, bathed in His divine light. The setting of this declaration, during the Feast of Tabernacles—a significant Jewish festival commemorating God’s provision during the Israelites’ journey through the wilderness—adds further layers of meaning. Jesus' words resonate with the festival's themes, as He presents Himself as the fulfillment of God's promises and the embodiment of divine presence. The painting’s impact is heightened by its meticulous mindfulness. The interplay of light and shadow creates a dramatic contrast, inviting viewers to reflect on the tension between darkness and illumination. The palette knife enriches the texture, heightening the emotional depth and amplifying the spiritual weight of the scene. This visual portrayal of Jesus’ declaration invites contemplation of its profound significance for one’s life. At its core, "Jesus Christ – The Light of the World" beautifully captures artistic inspiration while powerfully bearing witness to the life-changing impact of His words. • "Guardians of Faith - Saints Timothy and Titus – Devoted Bishops and Stalwart Disciples of Saint Paul - Palette Knife by Dino Carbetta" ...<br />
<br />
In honoring the liturgical memorial of Saints Timothy and Titus, profound figures in the early days of the Catholic Church, we delve into their inspirational journeys intertwined with the Apostle Paul's mission. Timothy, of partially Jewish descent, emerged from present-day Turkey. His mother and grandmother embraced the Church, fostering Timothy's deep connection with Sacred Scripture. Joining Paul in 51 AD, Timothy demonstrated unwavering dedication during religious strife and persecution. Enduring imprisonment alongside Paul, Timothy's release is chronicled in the New Testament Epistle to the Hebrews. In 64 AD, he assumed leadership as the first bishop of the Church of Ephesus, receiving letters from Paul urging him to visit during the apostle's Roman imprisonment. In 93 AD, St. Timothy, a resolute opponent of idol worship, faced martyrdom. Contrasting Timothy, Titus, born into a pagan family, immersed himself in Greek philosophy before a prophetic dream led him to the Hebrew Scriptures. Witnessing Christ's ministry in Jerusalem, Titus later received baptism from Paul, becoming his spiritual son. Instrumental in the Apostolic Council of Jerusalem and dispatched to the Corinthian Church, Titus, ordained as Bishop of Crete post-Paul's Roman imprisonment, received pastoral instructions in Paul's surviving letter around 64 AD. Evangelizing Dalmatia in modern Croatia, Titus led the Church of Crete into his 90s, dismantling paganism through prayer and preaching. In stark contrast to Timothy, Titus peacefully passed away in old age, leaving a lasting legacy of faith. The narratives of Saints Timothy and Titus, captured vibrantly in my painting, resonate with timeless lessons of dedication, courage, and unwavering commitment to the Gospel. May their stories inspire and illuminate the path of faith for generations to come.

  • “Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, The Archangels – Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
Angels, often referred to as messengers from God, play a significant role in Scripture, with only three being named: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. Michael, whose name means "Who is like God?," is a prominent figure in the Bible. He appears in Daniel's vision as "the great prince," defending Israel against its adversaries. In Revelation, Michael leads God's heavenly armies to ultimate victory over the forces of evil. The devotion to Michael is one of the oldest angelic devotions, originating in the fourth century. The Western Church began honoring Michael and all the angels with a feast in the fifth century, showcasing the enduring appeal of this angelic figure. Gabriel also makes appearances in Daniel's visions, where he announces Michael's role in God's divine plan. However, Gabriel is perhaps best known for his encounter with a young Jewish girl named Mary. It was through Gabriel's message that Mary willingly agreed to bear the Messiah, making him a central figure in the story of the Nativity. Raphael’s role in the Bible appears exclusively in the Old Testament story of Tobit. Raphael guides Tobit's son, Tobiah, through a series of incredible adventures that ultimately result in a threefold happy conclusion: Tobiah's marriage to Sarah, the miraculous healing of Tobit's blindness, and the restoration of the family's fortune. Raphael's role as a guide and healer showcases the diverse attributes of angels. The memorials of Gabriel and Raphael were added to the Roman calendar in 1921, a recognition of their importance in Christian tradition. These angels, Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, hold a special place in the hearts of believers and serve as messengers and protectors, exemplifying the profound spiritual connection between heaven and Earth. Their stories continue to inspire and uplift those who seek divine guidance and protection in their lives.

  • “Father Peek Raises the Consecrated Host for Adoration - Sorrento Cathedral - Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
The reflection of Father Peek in “The Elevation of the Host” is after genuflection in adoration. The priest raises the Host so that the Faithful may also adore Jesus Christ, the true God and true Man present on the altar. Look at the sacred Body of Jesus and then say with all your heart (interiorly): "I adore Thee, O Sacred Body of Jesus Christ, Thou art my Lord and my God; I believe in Thee, I hope in Thee, I love Thee above all things. “Duomo di Sorrento is one of my favorite hidden treasures in Italy. On our last day on the Bellissimo Amalfi Coast, Father Peak offered a venerable morning Mass for our semi-exhausted group of Pilgrims upon the High Altar. The main church in Sorrento is the Duomo, also known as the Cathedral of San Filippo and San Giacomo, which is concealed right in the heart of the town. Sorrento is not known as a pilgrimage site but as a beautiful seaside resort village. I am not an expert in, nor was born in Marina Grande or Sorrento, but the Gulf of Naples is where my Grandfather and his family are from. It seems that every time I have set foot in this tiny village, the skies explode with color and welcome its former lineage home. Shortly after the last picture was captured, it was mealtime with the entire Pilgrimage group. A perfect dinner at my favorite restaurant, Ristorante di “Zi'Ntonio Mare, was enjoyed by all!

  • Light of the Five Advent Candles on Christmas - Painting by Dino Carbetta<br />
<br />
The five Advent candles symbolize Jesus coming as the light in the darkness. One candle is lit each Sunday during Advent, progressively illuminating the path toward Christmas as all four candles are eventually lit. Each flame represents the increasing light of Christ dispelling the shadows of the world. On Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, a white candle, often called the "Christ candle," is lit to signify that Jesus is with us. Each candle before Christmas reflects a particular aspect of preparation during Advent. The four candles symbolize the four Sundays of Advent, representing hope, peace, joy, and love. The fifth candle, lit on Christmas, celebrates the birth of Christ—the Light of the World. Together, we can rejoice in the grace to endure each day, each year, and the journey of life, finding hope that restores our spirit with peace, joy, and love. A heartfelt prayer for this sacred time: “Lord Jesus, Master of both light and darkness, send Your Holy Spirit upon our preparation for Christmas. We, who have so much to do, seek quiet spaces to hear Your voice each day. We, who are anxious about many things, long for Your presence among us. We, who are abundantly blessed, yearn for the fullness of joy in Your Kingdom. We, whose hearts are heavy, seek the consolation of Your presence. We are Your people, walking in darkness yet seeking Your light. To You, we cry, ‘Come, Lord Jesus!’” As the angel proclaimed: “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today, in the city of David, a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” Suddenly, a multitude of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.”Luke 2:10–14

  • “Tranquil twilight descends on the Sorrento Marina Grande”…<br />
<br />
Arriving in Sorrento in late spring, the sunlight colorfully lingered before surrendering to the famous Sorrento moon. One of the highlights of my Italian journey was stumbling upon the tiny Marina Grande fishing village. It was as if I’d walked back in time and merged into this ageless world with its own pace and traditions. Life here seemingly has its own rhythm- a strongly united community tenaciously anchored to its family principles, hard work, and religious traditions. They love the sea and live in symbiosis with it; here time seems to move more slowly than anywhere in the world. In 1558 the Turks plundered the town of Sorrento, and after the Saracens left the inhabitants constructed a solid town wall. My eyes were blessed with an extraordinarily beautiful canvas as a permanent smile measured my face, and my camera gazed upon this tiny bay nestled within the bygone fishing village. I meandered about cautiously, glancing at fishermen humbly repairing their nets. At the heart of the Marina is the Church of Sant’Anna, patron saint of the village. Restaurant Zi' Ntonio a Mare, which jutted out into the bay, was crowded with hungry guests and serenaded by an Italiano singer who, ironically, was singing Dean Martin songs which echoed throughout the bay; guests and this photographer were delightfully enchanted. I gently crept along the water’s edge and tried to capture the perfect, yet the very personal portrait of this piccola baia italiana della perfezione (Italian small bay of perfection). As night fell, the water reflections and resting fishing boats posed for a few more images as fish jumped for their dinner! It was time to enjoy the gifts of the day’s catch at Ristorante di “Zi'Ntonio Mare. The epicureo delights, especially the calamari, olive bread, wine, and the main course of Il pesce San Pietro (The St. Peter's fish), was authentic perfection…just like this perfect piccola bay of Marina Grande.

  • “The Holy Family: Divine Grace – Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...<br />
<br />
Amid the tranquil account of Luke 2:8-14, shepherds keep watch over their flock beneath the quiet canopy of night. Suddenly, the angel of the Lord appears, illuminated by divine brilliance, casting awe and reverence upon the humble scene. Amid the shepherds' fear, the angel's voice rings out: "Fear not," proclaiming joyful news for all people. The city of David becomes the stage for a momentous announcement—a Savior, the Messiah, is born. A sign is given: a child wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger, an image of humility that heralds the profound accessibility of salvation to all, regardless of status or station. Heavenly hosts then join the angel in a celestial symphony of praise, their proclamation resounding: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests." This chorus transcends time and space, enveloping not only the shepherds but all creation, affirming the boundless reach of divine grace. This painting encapsulates the sacred essence of that moment, centering on the Holy Family. The tender image of the infant Jesus, swaddled and resting in a manger, conveys the profound humility of the Savior's birth. The artwork's intricate details and symbols invite viewers to reflect on salvation as a universal message of hope and peace that transcends human division. Far more than a depiction of a historical event, the painting serves as a visual homily, drawing observers into a contemplative space where the sacred narrative becomes personal and eternal. Each meticulous brushstroke breathes life into the scene, transforming the stable into a symbol of profound truths. Within its simplicity lies an eternal message: the birth of Christ signifies hope, peace, and redemption for all humanity. May this artwork inspire and uplift all who gaze upon it. May its beauty echo goodwill and peace, guiding hearts to embrace divine grace and love.

  • “Blessed Carlo Acutis - Painting by Dino Carbetta” …<br />
<br />
Born in London and raised in Milan, had a remarkable spiritual journey that serves as an inspiration to many. Carlo's deep faith blossomed early, marked by his first communion at age seven. He became a devoted communicant, praying before the Tabernacle before and after Mass. Carlo looked up to saints like Francis of Assisi, Bernadette Soubirous, Jacinta and Francisco Marto, and Dominic Savio, drawing inspiration from their lives. He displayed compassion at school, comforting friends in times of parental divorce and defending disabled students from bullies. Beyond his studies, Carlo volunteered to help the homeless, embracing the call to serve those in need. He enjoyed simple pleasures like films, comics, soccer, and video games. He combined his love for technology with faith, dedicating four years to creating a website cataloguing Eucharistic miracles worldwide. Carlo's life took a challenging turn with a Leukemia diagnosis, but he offered his suffering to God for the intentions of Pope Benedict XVI and the Church. Sadly, his dream of visiting Eucharistic miracle sites was cut short by his illness. Carlo passed away in 2006 and was beatified in 2020, with his final resting place in Assisi. Carlo's beatification in Assisi's Basilica of St. Francis was attended by many of his childhood friends, highlighting his ability to use technology to spread the Gospel and foster friendship with the Lord. Carlo Acutis did not seek fame; instead, he sought to cooperate generously with God's grace. His journey, though brief, was marked by an unwavering desire to serve God and others selflessly. The artist's portrayal of Carlo in front of the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi captures the essence of this remarkable young man, whose life continues to inspire and guide us on our spiritual journeys. His liturgical feast is celebrated on October 12th, reminding us of the profound impact of a life lived in faith and service.
