Venezia organica - evoluzione perpetua di splendore, armonia e colore
“Organic Venice - Perpetual Evolution of Splendor, Harmony, and Color” …
Describing Venice as “organic” might be the most fitting way to capture its essence. The city’s ever-evolving nature reflects a dynamic interplay of light, tide, and time, transforming its iconic beauty with each passing moment. My arrival from the USA was met with torrential rains, which enveloped Venice in a shroud of mist and gloom. Yet, as the clouds gradually dispersed and the afternoon sunshine broke through, Venice experienced a stunning transformation. The city, which had been drenched and somber under the relentless rain, emerged renewed and radiant. It was as though Venice, in its moment of weariness, had been resting in anticipation of this very revival. With each ray of sunlight, the city's ancient facades and winding canals appeared to come alive. unfolding like a vibrant flower blooming after a tempest. The once-muted colors brightened, and the intricate details of Venice’s architecture and waterways shimmered with a fresh, invigorating brilliance. The rain’s remnants gave way to an antique elegance, the gloom turned to enthusiastic hues, and the creaky old streets hummed with newfound vitality. The lagoon, once subdued, began to shimmer with life, color, and hope. The photograph I took along a charming canal in front of The Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari captures this fleeting magic. In a delightful twist of fate, during my exploration, I spotted Rick Steves, the travel guru whose guides had inspired my Italian journey. As I was considering my next shot, I noticed him about 20 feet away, focused on filming for his PBS show. Seizing the moment, I called out, "Hey, Rick!" and managed to snap a photo as he turned. Rick, ever gracious, paused to shake my hand and chat briefly, sharing his insights into Venice before resuming his work. As I walked away, the clouds parted, bathing the canal in a perfect, golden light that seemed to encapsulate Venice’s timeless allure.
